Panorama #34-35 - Rundetaarn
Copenhagen is a fun European city that is very modern but also contains a lot of history. I love the architecture and old buildings of the city. One interesting building is the Rundetaarn. This tower, built as an astronomical observatory in the 17th century, was one of many architectural projects by former Danish leader Christian IV. The tower is unique in that it doesn't use a staircase, but instead a flat spiral walkway, to travel through it. It really is a unique and interesting building to visit.
Today you can visit the tower and for a small fee, go inside and walk to the top of it. The view of Copenhagen from the top deck beautiful, looking across the city with full 360 degrees of sight. It may not be the top attraction in Copenhagen, but I think it is well worth the value. There is even more to the tower than the observatory at the top. There are a few levels in which to see some additional things inside.

And in case you are wondering what the tower actually looks like...
I just love those really wide open panoramic shots. I wonder if when they lock the doors on the observatory if the employees ever have rolling chair races down that spiral walk way, I bet it would be fun to be in one of those big blow up bounce ball riders or what ever they call them and roll down that spiral, bouncing of one wall to the next. Or skate boarding or rollerskating down it, what a quick way to get to the bottom.
I was thinking the same exact thing about rolling down it! Or to play a dodging type of game where you roll giant balls down it and have to avoid them. I mean it isn't super steep, but you put someone's weight on a cart or in those inflatable balls you can get inside, gravity will definitely give you a ride.
