Belvedere Castle Central Park

On an Actifit post, I showed a shot of Belvedere Castle in Central Park with a shot taken with my iPhone at that time I also took some shots with my CSony Camera and I will share those in this post, Starting with a shot of the Castle across one of the fields in the park.

Belvedere Castle is located in the middle of Central Park, at around 79th Street, now strictly speaking its not a castle, but a folly, or fake castle or made to look like a castle, it was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1867–1869, in an architectural hybrid of Gothic and Romanesque styles

It contains exhibit rooms and an observation deck, and since 1919, also houses the official Central Park weather station.

Even though it is a folly, I still love seeing it when I walk throughthe park, but have never been into see the exhibits as I mostly pass by it on early morning walks before work and well before it opens

Belvedere Castle was originally built as a shell with open doorway and window openings,The main tower was given a more medieval design, with a weather antenna on top, but during the castle's 1983 renovation, the tower was restored to a German style with a flag, a weather vane, and an anemometer on top. The two fanciful wooden pavilions deteriorated without painting and upkeep and were removed before 1900

Looks like it’s a lovely day in Central Park! Wonderful pictures of the castle. One day you will need to act as a tourist and go see the exhibits. 😁

I am a big fan of castles so when I visited Central Park I knew I had to come see this. I think it was closed because they are doing some kind of renovations on it, but I got a lot of pictures of the outside of it.

A nice castle with a fine observation Deck. We also have Belvedere Castle in Vienna but it´s more of a Palace with lovely gardens.

What a neat folly @tattoodjay! From the photos I would have thought it was real, lol Glad to hear it has been restored and maintained, it's a nice centerpiece for Central Park visitors to see. :)

That is so interesting! I learn more about New York City through your walks and posts! My husband and I are in Branson, MO for a 3 day getaway. Taking a short break from substituting! Hoping to go on a hike and maybe see a show. I hope Denise is coming back to post on Steemit soon! I need to go over to her blog. Have a great Thursday!

I did the same and then looked at Street View, none of them looked that photogenic, how !DERANGED is that

I have seen some of our breweries, and none of these looks somehow nice or photogenic neither, but some breweries have old inns nearby, which look most times quite more interesting.

What would be more photogenic are some of the small boutique !BEER breweries I should look for some of those if I do not become to !DERANGED

Are these such small private breweries, which brew their own beer and sell it in the enclosed shop?
We have such here too and some make !DERANGED good money with very tasty !BEER - the Loncium brewery is even selling overseas I have heard ( https://www.loncium.at/show_content.php?sid=22 )

Yes those are the ones i am talking about Back in NEw Zealand they used ot be all over, we used to have more Breweries per person than any other country in the world, Now sure if that is still the case

I cannot remember that we have had any of these small breweries when I was young. I think, the first ones came only a few years ago, and the Loncium was one of the first. Their !BEER is very good, but !DERANGED expensive.

A castle, even though “fake” must be an amazing sight in the middle of Central Park! Thanks for the interesting share and these wonderful photos, @tattoodjay!
Have a great day, my friend, take care🥰🌺👍

The castle among the greenery looks just fabulous. I kept waiting for the photos taken from the observation deck to appear.
Maybe it is closed to the public? :D

Old stone look makes it fascinating, being a castle or not it adds character to the park. Nice to learn some of the history found in this massive park in the middle of a city.
