So we have here some people without a great experience at Hollywood. The Warner Bros. producers easily imposed their point of view. And the result is a movie without a personality and an almost boring story.

Lara Croft is barely forming. Maybe that's why she has a certain lack of logic in action and thoughts.
After her father, Richard Croft, played by Dominic West, is declared dead, Lara is left with a great fortune. All she has to do is to sign some papers so that everything is official.

But what does Lara do? Of course she does not sign, because that would mean accepting her father's dead. But she needs money to unravel the mystery of his disappearance. She borrows $8,000 from a pawn.

A film of such a magnitude can not only be recorded on the streets of London, and after this introduction, we are somewhere in Asia, Lara looking for Lu Ren (Daniel Wu). Because the filmmakers did not allow themselves to waste too much time, Lu Ren was found quite easily and convinced as soon as possible to accompany Lara to Yamatai Island.

Yamatai is supposed to hide the tomb of the Japanese goddess Himiko, which Richard Croft sought before disappearing.

Only Yamatai seems to be mastered by Matthias Vogel (Walton Goggins), who looks for the same grave.

The irony is that Lara's father was seven years old in search of this tomb but, in fact, he did not want to find it, but only to prevent others from doing it.

Vogel also admits he was not interested in Himiko, but he would prefer to be with the family.
Still, here they are, on Yamatai, looking for a tomb that nobody cares about.

The second part of the movie is a long series of action scenes in which Lara Croft defies the logic and laws of physics, visual effects are doing their job, and the spectator eagerly awaits the end.

Tomb Raider tries too much to resemble the video game and forgets it must be a movie. And a movie has a story, not just action and a story told from voice-over.

Have you watched the movie?
