League Levels Explained!! Super Important Info for New (ALL) Players!!

Good morning my fellow Splinterlandians,

Not you @YeshuaTheHighest... Since you snuck in and stole first place from Schwarzchild at the last minute...

Also not you @Schwarzchild for placing second last season and CURRENTLY BEING FIRST, AGAIN...

Now that the formalities are over, I need to make this quick and concise as I am on a short break from work and have but a few minutes...

As the title suggests, this is an explanation of League Levels for Summoners and Monsters and what this means for YOU (see photo):

Bronze LL.png

"Summoner Level Limits"

For each League, there are different Summoner Level Limits. We will use Bronze as an example.

Please understand that "Summoner Level Limits" is NOT the maximum level of SUMMONER you can use... rather the maximum level MONSTER!

If you're new to this game, I'm sure you asking yourself a couple of questions... Probably something like...

  • Why is this so important?
  • What the hell is Dingus blabbering about today?

Allow me to explain...

When you first get a Spellbook you can play the game with a "Starter" set of cards - Monsters and Summoners.

For Novice League, these work perfect as all "Starter? cards are Level 1... and the League Level for Novice is... you guessed it... Level 1!

This grants an even playing field so newbies can cut their teeth on the mechanics...

HOWEVER... once you advance to Bronze League... The League Level jumps to:

  • Common 3
  • Rare 2
  • Epic 2
  • Legendary 1

This denote the maximum MONSTER Level for the League... This is CRITICALLY important for TWO key reasons.

But first, a word from todays sponsor: BRAWNDO, the Thirst Mutilator!

Alrighty - hope you enjoyed that little bit of internet history... now let's continue with the TWO key reasons understanding League Level is SUPER-DUPER IMPORTANT!!

  • The first reason is kind of a no-brainer for anyone who has played any sort of RPG, video game, fucking checkers, I dunno - literally anything... THE HIGHER LEVEL CARD IS USUALLY BETTER THAN IT'S LOWER LEVEL COUNTERPART... This is, or should be... a MASSIVE DUH!

Let's compare a Cruel Sethropod at Level 1 vs Level 3

LEVEL 1

Seth1.png

As you can see, at Level 1, a Cruel Sethropod isn't a bad Monster at the 3 Mana slot...

  • 1 Attack
  • 1 Speed
  • 3 Armor
  • 4 Health

Not terrible stats, honestly... Pair that with the Summoner Kelya Frednul and it's a pretty decent 3 mana card...

But let's look at the Cruel Sethropod at Level 3...

LEVEL 3

Seth3.png

GREAT GOOGAMOOGA!!! That's a VERY different Monster at Level 3!!

  • 2 Attack (+1)
  • 2 Speed (+1)
  • 3 Armor (0)
  • 4 Health (0)

In almost every conceivable circumstance... the Level 3 Seth will beat the brakes off the Tiny Tim version of himself.

That's like full grown you, picking on yourself... when you were 4... I don't know about you... but I could kick my own 4 year old ass for sure!

Important bit: When playing in a League, try to ensure you Own or Rent Monsters AT OR ABOVE the League Level max!!

This will ensure you can bring the best, most powerful, most bad ass, most inyourfacegonnastompyourlightsout version of the Monsters... and give you the best chance at winning... what's that Charlie Sheen?

Nothing sucks worse than playing in Silver League with a Level 1 Common Monster only to get curb stomped by your opponents Level 5.

Forsaken.jpeg

Hahaha... Top kek... MOVING ON!

  • The second key point isn't as obvious as the first... "A Level 3 is 99% of the time better than a Level 1..."

  • The second key point does have to do with Summoner Level... Unlike Monsters, Summoners don't increase in strength or gain new abilities... Instead, as you level up your Summoner, you increase the Level of MONSTER you can use!

Please see the following photo for clarification:

Kelya Frendul.png

The fancy purple box you see should highlight this oh-so-critical piece of information...

  • A Level 1 Kelya can ONLY use Level 1 Monsters!!
  • A Level 2 Kelya can use Monsters up to Level:
  • 3 Common, 2 Rare, 2 Epic & 1 Legendary... wait...

Shrek HtP.jpg

Those Summoner:Monster Levels look awfully like... League Levels!!!

That's right, go back up and look at Kelya Frendul again... A Level 2 Frendul can use Bronze League MAX Level Monsters!

A Level 4 is Silver, Level 6 is Gold... get it?? Good. The rest can be figured out by you!

PS - this is why you often see Bronze/Silver League opponents with MAXXXXXXED out Monsters... but only a Level 1 Summoner...

(They're renting the Monsters, thinking "M0AR IS BEST; RAWR", not realizing they can't use them at those levels due to the Summoner and League caps...)

If you Own or Rent a Monster of high level... but lack a Summoner capable of using it at that level... you will see this when Creating Your Team for Battle:

LevelCap.png

What happens is, the Summoner will use the HIGHEST Level of that Monster, possible

Let's say you're using a Kelya Frendul, Level 2... but you Rented a Level 10 Sea Monster...

Sea Monster is a Common so the maximum Level that a L2 Kelya could use... is a Level 3, no matter the League!

Also, you could have a L6 Kelya and L8 Sea Monster... But be in Novice League... Guess what??? You'll be using the L1 Sea Monster!!!

Well my friends, that sums it up for today... took a little longer than I wanted but this is REALLY IMPORTANT for you to understand and it will DEFINITELY help increase your WIN PERCENTAGE!!
