Turning The Pain Up To 11

In this week’s Battle Mage Secrets, we look at the Up to Eleven ruleset and see what strategy works when all units have the Amplify ability. This is a ruleset that benefits abilities like Thorns, Return Fire and Magic Reflect as it multiplies the damage done.

For this battle, my summoner is Mylor Crowling as I want all my units to have the Thorns ability so that they can take advantage of the Amplify ruleset. This means that they will do even more return damage when my opponent lands a hit than the traditional 2 damage.

1st position - Terraceous Hulk - Taunt ability with good shield, void armor and health. Will be useful for landing a lot of amplified Thorns damage
2nd position - Disintegrator - There's a good chance my opponent will use melee attacks so I want to reduce them all by 1 with Demoralize
3rd position - Goblin Thief - Cheap but decent sneak attack capabilities
4th position - Sand Worm - More expensive but more deadly sneak attacks
5th position - War Chaang - Using it for its range attack but also has retaliate capabilities if my Dumacke Orc at the back is killed
6th position - Dumacke Orc - Shield ability to absorb sneak attacks and also can retaliate for extra damage. Plus amplified Thorns to make it a killer

The battle went according to plan because my opponent went with an all melee lineup and didn't use any range attacks. That made him very vulnerable to the amplified thorns which was doing 3 damage every time he landed a hit. By Round 3 it was 4 units vs 2.

Amplified Thorns helped to make it 3 units vs 1 by the fourth round and it was clear that he was taking on too much damage every time he landed a hit, making it impossible for him to win.
