Splinterlands Strategy for Up Close and Personal rule

(Edited)

I wanted to take a little time and talk about some strategy for a specific rule I encounter while playing #Splinterlands.

Up Close and Personal

Within this post I will show you 2 different battles where I have used the same strategy to win this rule set.

The first battle happened within the last hour and you can view it here.

Rules were Up Close and Personal & Back to Basics

Up Close and Personal: Means that only monsters that have the melee attack may be used in battles.
Back to Basics: Means monsters loose all their abilities.

The card I really want to highlight in this battle is the War Chaang. What is special about this card is that it has 2 types of attack both melee and ranged. If you place this card at the back of your lineup it will continuously fire it's ranged attack while the monsters before it take the damage. Very useful in a Back to Basics & Up Close and Personal setting where typically only the front card is attacking. I am attacking with 2 cards and my opponent only ever attacks with 1.

There are 2 other cards that you can substitute for this type of strategy, but both are dragons and I have neither.

The War Chaang is special because it is a neutral card and also epic so It can be used in almost every condition.

The second battle I wanted to highlight were I have used this strategy is here.

Rules were Up Close and Personal & Reverse Speed

Up Close and Personal: Means that only monsters that have the melee attack may be used in battles.
Reverse Speed: Means monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.

This battle was a little different because the monsters could use their abilities so most of the monsters here attacked every round. The extra damage from the ranged was useful though.

If you don't currently have have a War Chaang I suggest you pick one up. They are relatively inexpensive in the market currently, in comparison to the other 2 dual attack cards.

Do you have any special strategies you use for this type of rule set?

I love the dual attack, and try to use it as often as I can. Which id - unfortunately - not that often. I wouldn't mind getting a bit more 'melee only' matches instead of the same, old Fog Of War or Silenced Summoners all the time.

The Opportunity monsters are also one of my favorites in melee games, because they can attack more than only the front or the back monsters.

All I seem to be getting are gold foil Goblin Blasters, sigh!

Oh! I love rule set strategies! I'll probably be incorporating them into the weekly "Share you Battle" challenges.

Great post! (as usual 😘)
