Grund is well loved amongst the people of Praetoria and he is a staunch defender of them, his strong ideals of honour and justice infused within in from a young age.

Hello, Splinterfam!

In this blog, I am sharing with you a battle that showcases the strength of a Level 1 Grund paired with everyone's favorite, the Byzantine Kitty, in the Silver League.

The Battlefield

It's Kitty and Grund against the world.
Ruleset:
• 17 Mana Cap
• Heavy Hitters
• Taking Sides
• Available Splinters: Water, Earth & Dragon

For others this would have easily been a Llama-Kron combo, but I didn't have those cards rented at the time and upon checking the recent matches of my opponent, I saw they didn't have them either.

The Strategy

At level 1, Grund only possesses the Double Strike ability. Does this mean he's weak? No. That's the very reason I picked this risky combo for this certain ruleset.

His great strength meant that he could hold one warhammer in a single hand and so it wasn’t long before he acquired another and began to dual wield them in combat.*

We all might know that prediction and calculation play a huge part in playing Splinterlands and in here, I was about 80% sure my adversary was going to pick Kelya and 20% Obsidian.

For Obsidian: Earth monsters are much slower and given the +2 Speed from Kitty, I was almost certain that the first one to attack would be Grund and it would deal a significant damage on the tank, if not kill it with 6 melee damage.

For Kelya: The main goal was to get through the armor and kill the monster and realized that the first strike from Grund would most likely break the armor and the next would take it down.

Now if it didn't work, I would have the summoner heal Grund's HP and by the next round, damage taken will be less. This went on and on til there's no one left.
