New Splinterlands Update! (Chaos Legions Packs)

So Splinterlands just released an article detailing the new upcoming Chaos Legion update (Click here! to get the full scoop)

So instead of detailing every new upcoming updates, I just want to highlight some key points as well as share with you what I think about the updates overall and what's going to be my plan moving forward.

So the Chaos Legion pack pre-sale will begin on October 18th through November 17th 2021 as well as additional week they will be adding to allow players to purchase or sell the final voucher tokens which will last until November 24th.

The total number of packs available to purchase is set to 15 Million packs and each pack is set to cost $4.00 USD which will be available for you to purchase with DEC, SPS and Credits. One important thing to note is that you will be getting an additional 10% discount for any pre-sale pack purchases made using the SPS token.

Also they will be airdropping a new card for every 1 Million packs sold to all players that has purchased the packs and there will be a total of 13 airdrop cards + 1 special limited-edition promo card that will be airdropped at the end of the pre-sale.

So here's how the actual Pre-sale is going to work, so there will be 1 Million Pre-Sale packs available to purchase and they will be airdropping 1 Million Voucher Token which you will need to puchase a pack + the addition $4 cost. There will be 33,333.333 Voucher tokens airdropped over the course of the 30 day pre-sale period and will be awarded to all players who have SPS tokens staked in their account. The amount of Voucher token you will receive will be based on how much SPS tokens you have staked and how much total SPS tokens have been staked across all players in the game.

To get a sense of how this actually works, Splinterlands used the following example, if there are a total of 100M SPS tokens staked across all players in the game, then a player who has 100k SPS tokens staked account for 0.1% of the total and would therefore receive 33.333 voucher token which equals to 0.1% of 33,333.333) each day over the pre-sale period.

It's also important for you to get familiar with this new Voucher system moving forward as the Splinterlands team have stated that this is something they will be continuing to utilize moving forward in their future pack drops. Increasing the utility for the SPS token will continue to skyrocket the price as more players will be looking to stake the token and hold long term.

I have mixed feelings about this new voucher system, based on the current 91 Million SPS tokens staked and when you take in the 33,333 vouchers being AirDropped daily, this means in order for you to receive 1 Voucher airdrop token, it would require you to have about 2.7K SPS tokens staked which equals to over $700 at it's current price and I only expect to see that number go higher. This means that small SPS stakers like myself may only be able to buy 1 or 2 chaos legion pre-sale packs over the course of the 30 day period. Depending on how much the vouchers will be selling on the open market once the air drop takes place will be crucial to your plan moving forward.

Assuming you are not a whale that has tons of SPS tokens staked there are two strategies to take into consideration. You can continue to buy and stake SPS tokens to earn voucher tokens or buy a voucher token directly from the market once it releases, at the expense of potentially paying a huge upfront cost.

Personally I am looking to purchase as much SPS tokens as I can before the pre-sale and hold for long term as I see great potential in this game overall and I believe the price of the SPS token will multiply by considerable amounts regardless of how much voucher tokens I will be receiving or how much Chaos Legion packs I will be able to purchase.
