Splinter - Khymeria

Set - Reward Edition

Class - Ranged Supporter

Size - Evangelists are chosen from Khymian women only, and while they are not usually thin at their time of recruiting, the Evangelist lifestyle leads them to live on only the minimum of what is needed to survive. Except for their voices, most Evangelists have bodies that are weak and frail.

Lifespan - There is nothing peculiar about the length of an Evangelist’s life. She lives (like any Khymian) for 60-80 years. Typically toward the end of an Evangelist’s life, she must retire from service. When they become old, it is difficult for most Khymians to summon the voice necessary for the powerful array of Evangelist attacks.

Habitat - Evangelists could not possibly be housed with soldiers or knights because of the disruption caused by their constant training. They are unbelievably loud; prolonged exposure to the noise for untrained ears can burst eardrums or worse. Evangelists have their own peaceful home in the Valley of Silence, to the north of Crystal Mountain. There is a strange anomaly of space and time there that dampens all sounds from within. If it were not for the bizarre magical protection of this place, the training of the Evangelists would be heard for dozens (or perhaps hundreds) of miles. The large group cottage there is called Stimmhaus. Almost all of the Evangelist sisterhood are happy with their lives at Stimmhaus.

Weapon - The weapon of an Evangelist is always her powerful voice. In fact, these women are forbidden by the intricate (almost cultish) doctrines of their sect to ever use weapons against another. They are not forbidden to kill or hurt others, but to do so they must use their voices alone. Most Evangelists prefer to use their voices to protect and support their teams, but they are still consistently called upon for offense. Most who have faced an Evangelist in combat think their attacks are simple and limited, but this could not be further from the truth. If she wishes to knock a foe off his feet, she can issue a high, quick shriek, which produces fast and sharp rings. If she wishes to crumble an enemy’s bones within his body, she recites a low and rumbling incantation. The words of the Evangelists’ incantations can never be made out through the carnage.

Diet - The Evangelist women care for several healthy Provision Trees at Stimmhaus. These trees provide 80% of their diet. They also take care of chickens for their eggs. Occasionally a small group of the sisters must travel to Shimmer City to purchase spices and ingredients that they cannot produce themselves.

Allies - The sisterhood of the Evangelists works for the Order of the Silver Shield. It is from their original purpose that their name is derived. Hundreds of years ago, it was the job of the Evangelists to travel from Khymian town to town spreading the good news of Khymia. They were expected to do this with endless zeal for almost no reward. At some point (lost to history) it was discovered that some of these women could use their voices as powerful weapons. The purpose of the Evangelist gradually morphed from crier to a new sort of soldier. The Order of the Silver Shield has protected and cared for the women ever since.

Enemies - Although Khymians often work together with people from Anumün, the sisterhood of Evangelists trusts no one from the Earth Splinter. They tell a variety of stories of their ancestors, who were wronged repeatedly by both the Goblins and the Humans of Lyveria. They have since decided that those people do not deserve the news they have to share. The Evangelists are especially afraid whenever a sorcerer performs an Earth spell.

Pastimes - In spite of the fact that they have become weapons of war, the sisterhood of Evangelists still holds strongly to its roots in storytelling. Now, instead of always simply recounting the tales of Khymia’s glories, they spin their own tales. On the longest nights of the Khymian year, surrounding a blazing fire, the Evangelists take turns telling their favorite stories. Most of them do not include Khymia.
