"Splinterlands" Power Strategy Tips #60

(https://steemmonsters.com?ref=transcript-junky)Screenshot 4643.png

As I have now been playing "Splinterlands" for over a year, I've wanted to contribute something of ACTIONABLE value to my fellow players (and FUTURE players) - but NOT just fill my #Hive feed with daily images of quest reward - or battle - SPAM (no offense to those doing so). Ultimately, Hive is about ADDING VALUE to the social experience - that is the magic of blockchain social media technology. So, after some serious pondering, I decided that a weekly "Splinterlands" player strategy diary"" type series, with CONCISE and ACTIONABLE tips, would be of most value to my audience. Please let me know your thoughts (good and/or bad), and I hope that readers (now and into the future) will benefit from this series. If you gain a better understanding of blockchain, gaming, "blockchain gaming", marketing, psychology, addiction science, forensics, philosophy, investing, and/or any other area(s) of knowledge I end up exploring (voluntarily or involuntarily) as this series naturally progresses, then I will have done my "good deed" (of providing value) for the week - and have a little extra Hive to buy some more Splinterlands cards/packs. Also, feel free to hit me up on the battlefield.

1 ) I am making good progress buying 2-3 new Dice packs per week, specifically when I earn one (or more) Untamed packs in quest rewards - since I can buy an additional Dice pack which is offset against the value of the Untamed pack. However, I am also getting a bit BORED opening the ~ 225 Untamed packs I have in reserve (compared to 115 Dice packs, and so I have decided to dial up the pace of opening the Untamed packs so that I ONLY open the Dice packs when I hit the season milestones (which should be around FIVE packs per season). For the rest of the main "one per day" daily packs I will open the Untamed packs. My hope is that this will accelerate the pace by which the reserve number of Untamed packs decreases relative to the Dice packs. During this time I will also be focusing on buying some of the specific Dice cards I want on the market, so slowing down the pace of opening Dice packs will not be a major loss. In addition, I will continue to be buying up additional Dice packs for the several months that they are still available for purchase, and so I think this is a good strategy right now, considering the differential of reserve packs I hold ( Untamed versus Dice). Let's see how this works this week.

Screenshot 4765.png

2 ) I had a nice windfall of DEC this past week, and although I have wanted to max out a few cards (ex. "Battering Ram" (Gold)) immediately, I figured that since I still have ~ 115 Dice packs remaining (plus some additional ones I will buy (2 -3 new packs per week), it is likely that there are some "Battering Ram" (gold) cards in those packs. In addition, I am also trying to BUDGET my expenditure of DEC, and so I have decided to continue keeping my spending on new cards within my daily DEC earning budget. In this way I can buy up, let's say, ONE "Battering Ram" gold card per day (usually) and then if I get additional ones in the packs then that helps me get to "max" faster, and replaces the "one per day" I would have spent DEC on that day. This method also enables me to conserve my DEC instead of "blowing my wad" too fast, which is especially important as I prepare to buy some plots in the land pre-sale.

Screenshot 4481.png

3 ) I got stuck on a few quests this past week (specifically "dragon" quests) which created the DUAL problem of ( 1 ) being extremely frustrating, and ( 2) completely messing up the daily accounting ( mainly making it difficult to move on to the next days' record, which then creates a snowball effect which ultimately makes it more difficult to get this weekly post cleaned up and published on schedule ). I am also noticing that the quests seem to be getting HARDER. This may be due to the influx of new players as the game is making significant growth milestones. So I have now decided that when I get stuck on quest I will simply document that in the notes of the quest and then move on with the hope that I can finish it within 24 hours. If I CANNOT finish the quest within 24 hours I may just cancel the quest, for the reasons of moving forward AND being able to do a new quest and earn the rewards, and get these posts out on time. Getting stuck on a quest for 2+ days is counterproductive - especially since the rewards no longer allow us to apply the potions to them. Also, since the quests have become generally less FRUITFUL overall it is not the end of the world if I skip one. I probably won't miss out on any especially high-value cards which I can't buy manually on the market (using my daily DEC earnings) and the only other loss would be one extra completed battle applied towards upgrading my "DEC Hunter" guild's "quest lodge" (but we usually EASILY meet that goal within a few days of each season's start anyway). I think this is the best strategy tweak to keep things running smoothly.

Screenshot 4466.png

4 ) Related to my new strategy in BetFury.io, I did some experimentation along the lines of the plan I laid out in the previous post ( primarily to use the ongoing passive income of 19 Tron per day to withdraw once per month). Well, firstly, although I DID last a few days of collecting the 19 Tron/day I DID get a little impatient, and after three days ( 19 Tron x 3 = 57 Tron ) I started to play a little (at a low level of 0.50 Tron per slot pull). Well, it turns out that by playing for a few minutes each day (after claiming the 19 Tron), and STOPPING when I am up 10 - 20 additional Tron, I was able to ACCELERATE the increase in Tron to a level that was worth converting to DEC to buy new cards. The best example of this from the past week was, after a few days of getting up to 57 tron I was able to play that up to 579 (I got lucky a few days) and then was able to convert that 579 Tron to 99.5 Hive and then to 23,631 DEC, which I then used to buy a nice batch of cheaper gold cards (like the "Battering Ram" (Gold) card.

5 ) Okay. As I did in the last post in this series, the highly-detailed "diary" of my daily #splinterlands activity is laid out in the last part of this post, for those of you who are inclined to follow, more closely, what I am doing. It occurred to me that this "diary" section is JUST THAT - a highly detailed record of my daily activity in the game, with some JUICY "play-by-play" analysis notes, and commentary, on what works, what doesn't, and some suggestions for further tweaking and experimentation. So, with this in mind, I hope some/any of you will enjoy this information. If not, you are under no pressure to read it fully, and are free to SKIM, or even IGNORE, any parts, or ALL parts, completely - at your discretion. I lay this out because it also HELPS ME to document my progress in the game over time, and may help some people NOW, and into the perpetual future...

[ DISCLAIMER ] I skipped several days of "accounting gone wild" due to Hive blockchain instability, plus getting stuck on a nasty "dragon" quest, plus what I believe is more competitive play due to an influx of new players. I'm currently working on solutions to prevent this from happening into the future. [ / DISLCAIMER ]

Whew! These posts are growing dense - but that's okay. Take what resonates with you,and leave the rest. I hope you find some/any of these tips useful in increasing your understanding and/or skill level in the Splinterlands and/or any other game(s) - and the " blockchain gaming " industry as whole - which I end up exploring as this series evolves. More JUICY tips to come with each weekly update, as I dig deeper into this whole REVOLUTIONARY PHENOMENON, and become more experienced and successful in the game(s).

See you on the battlefield...
