Remnant: From the Ashes

Now, finally, the title has already reached the market and I have been able to put myself at the helm of the final version to discover everything about Remnant: From the Ashes. With a cryptic story and a gameplay that boasts of mixing the cooperative shooter with some Dark Souls mechanics, the expectations I have of the game are high, but does it manage to live up to it?

An adventure and survival game with Souls flavor

Shortly after starting our adventure with Remnant: From the Ashes we realized that the title drinks, and quite a lot, from the Souls formula of From Software with certain playable elements very typical of this work that are very well integrated in this title.

For example, we find the typical previous fog before the encounter with some final boss or extraordinarily powerful creature that serves, among other things, for the game to make a small load before facing the aforementioned encounter.

Taking advantage of the fact that I mention the fog and the bosses, the confrontations against them are quite dynamic and fun in addition to having all kinds of difficulties, going from relatively simple confrontations to others that will make us sweat the fat drop and for which we will need, almost of mandatory, to have other teammates in the group to defeat them. In fact, one of the main black points of the game is that the difficulty against these bosses, if we play alone, is not at all well balanced.

Another typical characteristic of the Souls that is present in Remnant is the "Heart of the Dragon", a healing element with, at the beginning, three charges (although it can be improved later) that would become what in the Dark Souls are the Estus Jars, allowing us to recover life with its consumption and recharging when we find a point of storage or rest (which instead of bonfires in this case are crystals

Good bases, good execution

In general, Remnant is a video game that is not perfect, and that has some important flaws at the design level that make it not an outstanding work. However, Gunfire has been able to put on the table a bet that surprises for good and, despite these failures, it overflows quality. At the end of playing the campaign, about 15 hours, our feeling is that a couple more worlds and another five hours of play would have come to work; And that is because we have enjoyed the time we have spent with Remnant.

If I talk about performance, the game at 1080p and Ultra has moved between 90 and slightly more than 110 fps on my computer equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super, Intel Core i7 7700k, 16 GB of RAM, SSD storage unit and Windows 10 64 bit, without finding great flaws at the graphic level, except for some punctual fall and a body that was able to cross a wall, a typical bug but, on this occasion, nothing serious.

Hardware for Remnant

Remnant: From the Ashes is a very enjoyable cooperative game that takes elements of titles like Dark Souls giving them their own different and fun touch, becoming a good alternative for all those who have ever dreamed of having a "Souls of shots".

The game has some really good points such as the randomly generated world varying both its distribution and the clashes, as well as its shooting system that is really agile and satisfying. However, in some aspects such as the number of objects, inexplicable details such as the absence of a cooperative text and voice chat or lip sync errors let us see that, after all, we are facing a second-line title.
