I am 2 years old on the Steem Blockchain today!!

Now, if it wasn't for the @steemboard badge system I wouldn't have even realized that I should be celebrating my Steemit birthday today. It came to me as a shock since it feels like I have been here for considerably less time.

Now that I am aware of the period of time I have been on Steemit, it feels like the perfect time to look back see where I came from and how far I have come.

It doesn't need much revision to realize that I have done very little of note for myself or for the blockchain for that matter over the course of two years.

At one point my goal was to continuously reinvest into my Steemit account and grow with the project. Unfortunately, at the time of discovering Steemit it was a period of transition for me where I was moving into my own home and job hunting.

That meant that sometimes I was cash strapped and that meant that I needed to dip into the Steem Wallet once in a while -- Well, not once in a while. It was definitely more than that.

That meant that my goals kept shifting around regularly from a point I had at least 200 Steem Power which I powered down to less than 50 SP.

The crypto meltdown did me no favors either. Prices went down massively which forced me to reevaluate what I wanted to do with my time.

• i.e Blog and earn cents on the dollar or focus on building my freelancing career.

You see, conventional employment has never held any interest for me. I relish the freedom of flexible work hours and the convenience of not having to conform to corporate physical outlook standards especially in a conservative work environment in East Africa.

Looking forward

Now that I have had a long and trying transitional period it is time to get back to work and focus on what brought me to Steem.

A young vision a group of us from Kenya conjured up in a cool coffee house in the CBD stipulated we would at one point build our own homes with Steem.

That vision started on a smooth road ($10 per SBD) and maybe in our naivety figured we could conquer the world so easily.

Some of us may have stumbled but refused to fall.

That vision still remains possible and I endevour to see it through.

The goal.

$20,000 in Steem is the goal and I will achieve that if Steem will still be around by then.
