Steemmonsters Battle Challenge Death

avatar

Today I had the Death splinter for my daily quest. I don't play the Death Splinter as often as the other splinters because I am lacking a few cards in gold foil and prefer to play all of my cards in gold foil to keep in practice for tournaments. I decided I should highlight some of the cool abilities contained in the Death Splinter. I have chosen 2 battles to talk about.

The first battlewas against @iroha and had 2 rulesets and was capped at 24 mana.

Armored Up and Rise of the Commons. Armored up gives an armor bonus of 2 to every monster and Rise of the Commons lets you only play common and rare monsters.

I noticed @iroha had been playing a lot of magic from the water splinter so I kept heavy magic in mind while developing my team.

I used the Haunted Spirit as my tank, I went back and for between the Haunted Spirit and the animated corpse but settled on the Haunted Spirit for the healing. I knew I would be up against heavy magic so I put the Prismatic Energy next for the reflect skill to push as much magic damage back on my opponent as possible. Next part of my strategy was to add the Haunted Spider for the poison and the Undead Archer for affliction. The poison from Haunted Spider is normally enough to counter a tank healer's spell. Affliction is great against a double heal like the sea monster / crustacean king I went against in this battle. The undead priest was my next choice because of the 3 health, weaken and 1 magic. I placed the creeping ooze at the back to act as a tank in case of a sneak attack and also for the slow ability making sure my monsters would fight first.
This strategy worked very well and this is a great match to check out if you want to see how a lot of different abilities work together.

The second battlewas against my friend @rxhector
and also had 2 rulesets but was only a 15 mana match:

Unprotected and Reverse Speed. Unprotected strips the armor from all monsters. Reverse speed makes the slowest monsters attack first.

This was a 15 mana match and I noticed that @rxhector had been playing the earth splinter so I was getting prepared to fight flesh golem, wood nymph combination. I was very surprised when he pulled out these cards!

Normally I like to play a Haunted Spirit, Haunted Spider, Twisted Jester Combination for a 15 mana game but I had done well with the Haunted Spider/ Undead archer combination earlier and wanted to see how it might work on a 15 mana match, even though I would have 1 less attack point because twisted jester has a 3 ranged and the undead priest and undead archer combined have 1 magic and 1 ranged. This strategy worked pretty good for me, even though the undead archer was only good for the affliction against the stone golem because of his shield ability.

After having played these 2 matches I have convinced myself that the next gold foil Death splinter card I should buy is undead archer.

Check out the hyper-links above to see the actual matches they are a lot of fun to watch all of the different abilities.

i vaguely remember that match - earth is one of my 'not so good' set of cards - i totally forgot to use my chicken again - could have made a difference in that match .

i hope your belly hurts from left-overs - happy holidays ;)
