Splinterlands - More Than A Blockchain Game, A Growing Economy

Blockchain has revolutionalized a lot in economy of finance. This goes on to be applicable to even activities such as gaming. Applying blockchain to gaming does not only make the system transparent, it also makes it far secure.

Fortnite is one of the most popular games out there, but like every other traditional gaming system, users data are stored on the companies server, if Fortnite's server shuts down today for whatever reason, so does every players items, earnings and progress unlike the blockchain games where every user data is stored on the blockchain.

The Blockchain also ushered us into an era of digital asset ownership in gaming. Meaning your collectibles can be worth real value outside the game. According to my research, the most popular blockchain game out there is the Cryptokitties built on the Ethereum blockchain.

I tried Cryptokitties once and I didn't find myself going back. There are a ton of other claimed blockchain games, with many of them being concepts and in early development stages, others that arent just concepts don't have my attention and I'd tell you why.

I googled, best blockchain games and I could hardly find anything on Splinterlands(SM). For the 100th time, I am pleased to be an insider on steem. On steem, a ton of information flies by per minute, even a constant user can miss a few weeks of information if not dedicated. The people with the worst information or insight about what's going in within steem are outsiders, non-steemians.

For me, the best blockchain game till date is Splinterlands, built on the steem blockchain, it is more than a game, it is a growing economy of fun and finance with a market cap of over $3million, and over 2000 daily user activity.

• On Splinterlands, players have the ability to earn rewards in digital assets(cards) everyday by winning ranked battles, and every season (i.e every 16days.)depending on the level reached.
• Players can also enter tournaments where they earn Steem for wining competitions in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, everyday. Over $36,000 has been distributed to tournament winners so far since the beginning of tournaments this year.
• Recently, the game also added an in-game currency called the DEC, which can be traded for upvotes on Splinterlands related posts and is listed on the Steem-Engine. They are acquired from wining battles, burning cards(DEC-ing) and they can also be bought and used in-game.
• Most recently, Splinterlands launched a forum type blog based platform where Splinterlands gamers can share blogs about splinterlands gaming as a community and earn SPT tokens, also tradeable on Steem-Engine.

If you find any blockchain based game out there with a better fun and financial economy, I owe you a bottle of beer. I like the fact that the Dev team recognizes the impact of growing a community, this is one of the key elements that makes Steem a special blockchain till date, harnessing the power of a committed community.

I also like the fact that since the inception of Splinterlands in March 2018, the dev team have been working tirelessly and releasing updates upon updates, innovative ways to make the game more enjoyable and ready for mainstream adoption. Lastly, the game is not restricted to only steemians, Splinterlands can also be played on the Tron blockchain and DEC can be traded for Tron tokens, amazing isn't it.

The last update on Splinterlands stated that the App version of the game will soon be ready for release. This sounds like more fun as it's going to usher in more players from around the world. Lest I forget, Splinterlands is also translated into Chinese and plans to do more translations.
