Mount Everest Flight, Nepal - Tripreport

All my life I dreamed to see one day the mother of all mountains, the highest point on earth - the Mt.Everest. As I'm definitely no able to climb up this monster, I had the chance to take a plane and fly along the east Himalayas of Nepal.
I was pretty lucky that someone in the hostel I stayed in Kathmandu told me about that this daily flight takes off once a day in the early morning. A few minutes later I started to walk down the street to ask inside a travel agency about this flight.
They told me they could give me a ticked for the next day for the price of 180$, which is a very fair deal in my eyes (After some online research the price always varies between 180$ - 200$). And if you negotiate well, you can also get a pick up service right in front of your Hostel/Hotel.
Flight Details:
• Flight starts at 6:00 AM early in the morning (If the weather is not to cloudy/rainy)
• Mt. Everest 20 miles from your window
• Witness all east Himalayan peaks, lakes and glaciers
• 50 - 60 minutes flight with guaranteed window seat
After arriving at the Kathmandu airport there was a ridiculous fast check in, which took probably 2 minutes before the 14 people who joined this trip got into the shuttle bus which drove us to the airplane.
The weather was beyond perfect, no clouds and a bright colored blue sky. It couldn't get any better than that. I still remember how extremely excited I was for this trip.
As you can see in the image above - The airplane was super small and definitely the smallest I've ever flown with. After a short "good day" to the pilots and the 1 person cabin crew, everyone got this window seat and we shorty after started to take off for an unforgettable experience.

As you can see in the clip above the weather was just perfect for this flight. It took us about 5 minutes before we saw the first (Langtang Lirung peak) of 20 of the highest mountain peaks of the east Himalayas.
The flight attended handed everyone a small map out which showed us all the peaks of this area.
I really can not describe how incredible unreal this scenery was. There are just no words. What I do remember very well was the fact that I had goosebumps of pure excitement during the entire flight.
I never felt so small in my life watching those breathtaking peaks all around. It almost looked like it was a movie set. Just unreal..
About 15 mins into the flight we had the chance to have a look in the cockpit of the airplane to have a small chat with the 2 pilots which have probably the best job on this planet.
Just imagine if this is your office and your ever days work! I'm 100% that this will never get boring, doesn't matter how many times you do it.
After a short chat with the pilots I went back to my seat as we were now as closed as possible on the mother of all mountains - the Mt.Everest
Seeing the peak with my own eyes was an experience I will never forget. We all have seen it on TV or in Documentaries or have heard of stories from people who succeed climbing it and also from people who died on the way up to the peak. So many things where running around my head that I had to calm myself and just enjoy this magical moment.

Around 40 mins later when we passed the peaks from the left to the right we got a little present from the flight attended - Champagne! "Can't lie here, it tasted absolutely terrible and I had to finish it on one go :D - Definitely not my kind of drink - But still fun to take a stupid picture with it ;) "
The flight was almost over and we made our way back. My mind was at this time already in a completely different mode.. I was just so impressed by all of this.
Shortly before landing we also got to see a super nice view from Kathmandu.
As we landed smooth and safe it was time to say good-bye to the flight attended and the pilots.
There are not many words left except - When ever you are in Nepal, please join this incredible experience. I can guarantee you that is one of the most impressive things you can possible see.

This blog is stands right up to the top of any travel related stories here in steemit.
Your brief description is more than enough to make a plan (for those in India especially) for visiting this place, And the photographs added its spicyness about them, And then comes the video...Oh my goodnesss I really enjoyed this and also I called all the people in my office to show the beauty of Mount Everest, (I did not tell him about this steemit and instead said that its my friend who made a trip)
Btw, when such a flight service started there, I never heard about it, Around 3 to 4 years back few of my friends visited this place and they were very much interested to go the base but never heard about such a facility and moreover the tour operators never said a word about it. And I may very soon plan a trip as I know the beauty of Himalayas viewed from the different places of India as I traveled to many places that can be seen from India
Also I really felt like I traveled along with you as I was going through this blog, Great way of making a travelogue.
By the way you could add some space between the photos as it looks like stacked one above another, but it doesn't diminishes its beauty though.

I am from south part of India, now working in North part (DELHI), travelled to East too and really I fell in love with West part of India really, Confused, I was telling I travelled many places within India as part of job and also as part of my treveling interest.
I visited many places from where the beauty of Himalayas can be experienced like Nainital, Dharmasala, Manali, Kashmir etc etc, and the different looks of Himalayas is one of the most cherishable memories of my travel.

I have read that the pilots who fly around the Himalayas are a special bunch. The weather can change so drastically and quickly that you really need to know your stuff. Great photos and a great experience.

Looking at this wants me to go back and definitely wait for that perfect day to fly up around them mountains it was unfortunate that when i was there we had a flight booked but it was canceled due to bad weather and it was my last day in Nepal i had to leave unfortunately. I was getting those goosebumps just reading through this magical adventure so happy for you that you got the perfect day :)

I have always wanted to go to Himalaya but I know I wouldn't able to conquer even the smallest peak there so I have never done it. Now you gave me an idea :) This is a great way of visiting Himalayas with just little effort :)
