Wednesday walk challenge Riverside Park and Steem Basic Income Give away

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all.

Following me and resteeming the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion, but you may have a better chance of receiving a Steem Basic Income Share if you do.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, resteem and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk, plus I will be sending @steembasicincomeshares to a selection of those who participate.

Actifit

A good App that works well in conjunction with the Wednesday Walk or any day walk is @actifit, which rewards you with Actifit Tokens and Steemit Upvotes, if you use the app to track your steps and do a post of your actifit total each day.

If you do a lot of activity I do recommend you check it out

Make me Smile Collaboration

As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the Make Me Smile hosted by @elizacheng,
Starting now with this post, on the third Wednesday of the month out two challenges will collaborate so if you combine the two into one post you have double the fun

Here are the rules for her challenge

Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem, drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post

So the collaboration giveaway is as follows
As well as the SBI shares normally given away from the Wednesday Walk and Make me Smile Challenge, we will send one SBI Share each to one lucky winner who joins both challenges in one post

This Weeks Walk Post in Riverside Park

Riverside Park which runs from 129th Street to 72nd Street, on the West Side of Manhattan is a beautiful area very popular with people walking, running and cycling or at least it was on the morning I walked there.

Now I am starting with one of the last shots I took on the walk, just because I really loved the way the light was shining down through the trees into a light misty spot which created quite a magical feel, which this shot does not really capture the feeling that well but I had to share it first

And now the first shot I took on entering the park, a nice small pathway heading into the trees

And just in the park I came across this path into one part of the wooded area, I love natural pathays like these and strolled through it and was so enjoying it I forgot to take more photos in this area

And now I am out on one of the wider Pathways running along the West Side of the Park, I had to get a shot with the reflectons inthe big puddle fromt he rains earlier that morning

Along this walkway like in many of the parks in NYC there were plenty of benches if you felt the need to sit and rest for a while

Now I said earlier this park was quite popular with people walking, running and cycling and I realize you may think I was making that up as all the previous shots had no people in them, I generally try and get shots without people and admittedly when I started walking in the park there were not too many people, but this last shot shows there were actually others in the park when I was there

That's all folks

Steem Basic Income give away

I mentioned in the guidelines that from this week I will be sponsoring a few who join the #wednesdaywalk challenge with shares on Steem Basic Income

What is Steem Basic Income you may ask well here is how they explain it

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content. so I have decided to send some Steem Basic Income shares to 5 people selected through a random draw so on the weekend all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk. @bozz, @lordvdr, @qwerrie, @joelai , @farm-mom, all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk . And a special bonus this week @elizacheng will send one SBI share to @starjewel,

I would love to be able to give everyone who joins a Steem Basic Income share, but I don't make enough steem each week to do so, but I will try and share them around fairly between those that join the challenge

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

The first photo is really magical! Just like in a fairy tale! A carriage might just emerge from the mist or the Snow Queen could appear to frighten people in the park!

Crisp fresh under the green, most photography I also prefer to leave people out, finding areas where you are able to enjoy surroundings, composing pictures with whatever comes to mind that captures imagination.

In particular like the photo with water and tree reflection.

After the rain the night before the greens were so beautiful that morning, I am glad I am not the only one who tries to keep people out of the photos, especially in natural scenes

That Tree reflection shot was one of my favorites of that day also

for Sony you will more likely be getting a Zeiss Planar T* with multicoating, might be a superb addition to your arsenal! (but its so pricey...) I feel a bit envy :P

That is a rel nice lens but I may not have the budget to get that one before i retire when my spending on camera gear will come to an end, I also am looking at the Sigma art 35 or 50mm Lens which have great reviews and are a lot cheaper

Oh, you certainly give us a bang for our buck here! The park is always such a delight and I am always in favor of taking "our" walk there!

The light coming down out of the trees in the first shot is almost a spiritual experience! I'm not kidding! Look how radiant that light is and it seemingly comes down from the heavens.

Another of my favorites is, of course, the trees reflecting in the puddles! Although, truth be told, I am hard pressed to pick favorites at this time of year and with your skillful hand at taking breathtaking shots.

It is like an oasis for someone who has been artistically dehydrated. Superb photography and lush landscapes.

Your let’s so kind
No I didn’t say it in the post but I to felt it was kind of spiritual with that light and after taking the shot I did walk into that spot in the light and as weird as it sounds it did seem quite hmmm what’s the word refreshing I just felt good while there and had a spring in my step as I continued on my walk
I think of all my recent walks this was very much my favorite

I’m sure you always walk in the light JJ. 💕
Maybe you were singled out to be blessed again by the Holy Spirit or...beamed up to a space ship to be inspected by aliens . Did you lose any time? 😊 🙃 I’m jesting.

The light in the photo definitely has a mysterious look. You’ll have to be hypnotized now to find out what happened when you stepped into the light. 😊
Happy you got a chuckle, JJ.

I have twice been in cases where people tried to hypnotize me, one = to try and help with giving up smoking and once in a hypnotist show, both failed with me they just couldn't get me in a trance or whatever it is, So I guess I will just never know :)

@tattoodjay

Before I even say anything...

That first photograph!!

Ok, I can continue now lol...

Another wonderful addition, to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, and can't believe... not a single comment, about that new footer... too bad. As usual, you continue to make your surroundings look like nothing short of a mystical world out of a Tolkien novel. As you know, @stealthunicorn and I love to take those "back-breaking" shots... what we refer to as perspective shots... low on the vantage point... and that tree reflection... wow. As always... so appreciate you taking us along with you on your #wednesdaywalk.

Also... should mention... congratulations, to @bozz, @lordvdr, @qwerrie, @joelai, and @farm-mom for your #SBI shares...

I really enjoy your photos from your walks and so much can be said about that spectacular first photo. My first thought was heaven looking down and it took my breath away. Then I thought of Star Trek and I would have freaked out if I saw 2 people at the end of the beams of light. Beam me up Scotty. LOL! And I also loved the photo with the reflection of the trees in the puddle. : )

Those two photos seem to have been the most popular, and now you are going to have a chuckle, I did walk into the light after taking the photo, and a few things did pass through my mind
One I did say but maybe not loud Beam me up Scotty, I did feel a kind of warm refreshing feeling walking into the light coming down , and lastly thinking I hope I am not going to be abducted by Aliens LOL

LOl I was just having fun thinking about the aliens, but the joke kind of turned on me yesterday at the doctors when I laid down for the ECG, well more when I sat up I saw a big bulge coming out of my Stomach and I thought what the heck is that and trying to see the funny side I did wonder if it was al alien LOL, seems its a hernia and not a big deal

I doubt I will need surgery but will see what the doctor says I have been getting indigestion and acid reflux on and off for a couple of years now and not that I would say I am used to it I am used to dealing with it but at least I now know why 👍😎👍

It would be fun to do a photowalk together sometime somewhere but I suggest we would be talking and joking away and having so much fun we would forget to take photos

I loved that light coming down, I even walked into the light after taking the photo, someone joked to me in a comment was I sure I was not abducted by aliens when under the light, which came back to me today when I went for my Cardio Doctors checkup, when I laid down or more sat up after the ECG, I noticed a big bulge coming out of my Stomach and I thought Holly molly was a taken by Aliens WTF is that, apparently its a hiatal hernia and not that big a deal according to the Dr, but this was the first time I felt and noticed it and it did freak me a little LOl

but aside from that the follow up was greta I am doing great and no follow up for a yar so all is good ;)

I knooow right??? I see us with camerabags fully geared but seeing something cool, and talk about it and waaalk passed it ;) :P BUT think about it, noooow that will give us a stunning step count tooo ;) ha ha

Ailine abduction?? Omg wouldnet that have made a coooool pix !!! :D
Cheeses the line of your thoughts are soo fab LOL Im sorry about the hernia, rememebr to push it in, or it will grow and extend the area... Hm get your doktor to put a mesh on that :) Il tell my patients next tiem , they been possesed by a alien ;) Tnx you just made my work day , waaay better ;) LOL

Super to hear, tnx for info :D woohoo you !! :D

It was a bit freaky when I first saw it and I will mention it when I next see my General Dr, but thinking about it now it explains perhaps why I had bad indigestion at times and symptoms like a heart attack and yet my Heart is fine according to the cardio Dr, so now it all makes sense and I see it as a positive thing

We would have such fun on a photowalk without a doubt ;)

0
0
0.000
avatar

I bet... as you said; give a hole lot of Alien feel to them ;) Yes do that, hm dont get why the cardio dude dident pick up on your tummy, when your heart was ok... Hmm...
Yes that is fab news as its a easy surgery nooo stuff after to keep track of either :)

Im doing a mindwalk with youuu as it is LOL

avatar

I think perhaps the reason it hasnt been noticed before is I was heavier then and had a lot bigger belly ( not that I have it down to a six pack or anywhere close yet) but it has come down a lot and maybe that is why I noticed it,
From what I have read here they seldom do surgery its just something to live with

But I will call my general Drs office tomorrow and tell them about it and see if they want to see me, and take it from there, and in the meantime not lay flat on the back to often as sitting up after that is the only time I notice it and then I get a lot of wind afterward LOL
