Splinterlands: Have you seen an attack dealing out more than 32 damage?

avatar

I recently watched a battle in which a hit of 32 'damage points' took place.

Can you guess which monster delivered it, and to whom?

Has anyone seen a bigger hit? And is there a known maximum with the current cards and rules?

image.png

The battle began with my Hydra, seen above about to deliver a hit of 2 and boost Magnor's speed and melee. Both teams lined up with 2 monsters which reduced the melee attack of the opposition, but one hit would enrage any monster and somewhat negate this effect.

We both chose Hydra and Disintegrator at the back - thorns/retaliate common choices when the rules include sneak. Different choices at the head of affairs though, with yours truly looking to return fire if Yodin was selected as summoner. My opponent chose to attack from the front but with enrage in the ruleset, (Magnor ability) perhaps not the best option for this battle. Also, if you are defending sneak, I'm not sure you want a monster at the front which draws all attacks, but is without thorns/retaliate?

image.png

Round 2 started with the oppositions Hydra reloading health but also losing enrage, and missing my Hydra. Magnor is looking weak, and does get taken out this round, meaning my melee attack monsters are now heading to the backline.

image.png

At the start of round 3,Almo aside, most monsters are close to full health. It is looking promising for me (at the top) with all monsters still in play, but I'm worried about Grum Flameblade. Currently the only monster with bloodlust, (outside of guild brawls) which is pretty brutal when it works - hopefully that isn't today.

image.png

No further casualties in round 3, but the oppositions Hydra looks ready for the taking. My Grund also looks a bit weak following a double attack on the spiky Hydra.

image.png

Carnage in round 4 with 4 monsters leaving the fray. The oppositions Hydra lost a spiky retaliation battle with mine, and Grum killed off my two backline monsters with the help of blast. Uh oh. Bloodlust x 2.

At this point I was still unsure which team would prevail. Can you guess who was to deliver the 32 hit yet?

image.png

Round 5 saw three more monsters taken out, leaving two left on each team. Cornealus at the front though wasn't going to do too much apart from thorns, thus making the opposition monsters attacking it enraged. At this point I thought it was game over for my team...

image.png

Cornealus down, but a Last Stand attack from Legionnaire Alvar was enough to bring the battle to a one on one situation, verses Grum and his 7 attack and 18 health!

All in hand though, as hopefully you have paid attention and worked out what is going to happen next :)

With just 1 extra speed point, Legionnaire Avlar gets first go, and delivers the hammer!

Enraged, Last Stand, Giant Killer, and Deathblow - nice!

Has anyone got a link to a battle with a bigger hit?

I have to say that I'm enjoying playing Splinterlands more than ever. The fresh influx of cards and players have caused, err, chaos, making predicting opposition plays and selecting your own team much harder.

From an economic point of view, the game has come off the boil a little. This was perhaps obvious with the influx of new cards, but to bring new players in this had to happen. Some basic math tells me these pack/cards are going to take a 'little while' to sell, but this has been the case with all previous editions. I'm not too worried about this - packs are now included in quest rewards, and I wouldn't bet against some packs being distributed by other means.

Hopefully, this year will mark the introduction of Land, and who knows where this could take Splinterlands. I've got a handful of plots waiting, and do wish I'd bought more at $8 - the price of my last buy, oh well.

For now, I'll just keep on doing the dailies and hammering my Capture Rate (currently at 70%), which has recovered at least 1% during the writing of this post 😀

So, can you beat a 32 hit? Show me!

Cheers

Ash

Electronic-terrorism, voice to skull and neuro monitoring on Hive and Steem. You can ignore this, but your going to wish you didnt soon. This is happening whether you believe it or not. https://ecency.com/fyrstikken/@fairandbalanced/i-am-the-only-motherfucker-on-the-internet-pointing-to-a-direct-source-for-voice-to-skull-electronic-terrorism

Haha that is totally awesome! What are the odds? I mean, for everything to fit so perfectly at the end there! I think you hold the critical strike bonus record, lol!

I'm not sure of the odds, pretty low I assume - hoping to find out more with the comments here!

Hurrah! I didn't know you have been sneakily loading up on SL cards!

Alvar will unlikely play such a key role for a long time, but he has been rewarded with post :)

Good man!

I think individual cards, particularly Chaos Legion, aren't looking too bad for those wanting in. Half way through the packs though so there could be plenty on offer for a while.

32 damage? Wow.
And I thought that 6-8 damage is a lot. Haha. 😂

I have not even seen any maxed out (level 10) monsters so far. The battles on that level are crazy. Especially with the Enraged ruleset/ability. Okay, the costs to upgrade the monsters to that level is much more crazier. Probably not a lot of people have level 10 monsters. 🙂

6-8 was a lot in the earlier editions!

Health and Armor increases, as well as Bloodlust, makes the Giant Killer and Deathblow card a real swinger - it landed :)

Probably not a lot of people have level 10 monsters.

Yes you are probably right. I've been playing in the higher leagues since I started and so I'm mostly up against maxed cards. I'm going down the tables slowly too and so I guess there's more people with good decks, and better at playing then me :)

What a hit!

How long did it take you to get the screen grab?

I'm waiting for someone to beat it!

How long did it take you to get the screen grab?

Well...

I took 2 or 3 but there were better frames on offer and so I installed a browser add-on to record the screen. The file didn't navigate well in the addon's player or VLC so I converted it (in VLC) to mp4, which made finding the final shot and the others less stressful to capture :)

A bit blurry though aren't they.... 😳 Might have to go back to print screen.

It was a superb ending, nice that you actually needed all of them too I think, if you'd have had one element missing you'd have only done 16 damage I think. So 32 might have been overkill, but it was actually necessary.

I wonder how long until the next one, it could be a while!

Last Stand might have done it - 3 to 5 melee and so a hit of 5x2x2 ?

This is the first time I have seen a 32 blow. That said, I wouldn't be using Alvar much. With your speed dominant play style, its a misfit.

For the ruleset he turned out to do OK but I don't see much use case, and yeah, slow!
