Getting ready for Land 1.5

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

I have tried to read the Whitepaper for The Secret of Praetoria twice. Once, I managed to read about 75% and the next time about 85%. The problem is that this whitepaper is very long. I can't say that I know everything about it but I think I understand the basic mechanismes.

I had quite a lot of Beta cards for sale on the market. Whitin a couple of days after the publication of this whitepaper, most of my cards were sold. This made me think and I believe that we should keep calm while trying to get ready for Land 1.5.

In the video, I explain why I believe it will be better not to get as much production points per land plot as possible, but to get as cheap as possible production points.

What is your take on Land 1.5? How do you get prepared?

I have them all in region 48 - Tract 9. Did you get your land deeds for your tract?

That looks like a good region. I wanted to get my deeds there too, but the region moved by the time I decided to do it. I haven't claimed mine yet, and it looks like I can't do it anymore until surveying is released.

I actually bought the deeds on peakmonsters and then sold my plots on hive-engine and made a nice profit in doing so lol.

I have also started reading the Land whitepaper several times and have not yet finished it. I keep thinking about all the different things that I need to do prior to Phase 1.5 starting. I have several plots split between two different regions so transportation costs will impact me that I will need to take into consideration with my grain requirements. There is no way that I will be able to stake maxed cards and meet the max DEC staking requirement so I will have to take a balanced approach. But since I know I have several months to work on it, I can do what I can in that period. I do feel that production on the plots will be higher at the beginning until everyone gets their cards and DEC staked so I will try to get started as early as possible with the process but who knows the rules might change before then with new proposals. LOL

The problem that I see is that it simply won't be possible to put fully developped cards on our plots. Simply because we don't have them and it would be pretty expensive to buy them in the first place. Also I'm not sure that it will matter that much. In the end it's pure economical calculation. You need to earn more than you invest and then you need to see how long it takes to get ROI. It's exciting but complicated :-)

That is the truth, very complicated. Not being distracted by everyone else's ROI is very important as well because not everyone is investing the same amounts.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea to "max out" your lands with the very best stuff.

If you've got a huge collection and believe in the eventual price appreciation of cards, and thus intend to HODL them, then putting them to work on your lands is a good move.

If you've got limited funds, then of course it would be best to find the maximum efficiency for your resources. 😜

I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea to "max out" your lands with the very best stuff.

If you have a handfull of plots I agree. If you have a tract or a region, no way that it will be possible to do so. So there will be two options for people owning a lot of land:

  • sell the plots
  • use what is available with less developped cards

Probably people with a lot of plots will concentrate their efforts into legendary, epic or rare plots. Since they have a big multiplicator effect. So I don't know what will happen with all the common plots that represent 75%.

I don't think that we will assist in a price appreciation of cards immediately because it will be very expensive for people to get basic stuff for their plots like survey package, staking DEC, powersource. So that there won't be much available to invest in cards. I believe in the first place we will see a price drop in common plots and then little by little an increase of prices for old cards. But hey I'm just speculating here :-)

It's an interesting topic and I think it's pretty complicated. I wonder what people will do to maximize their profits based on their returns. I am guessing it will have to wait till after the surveys.

I like this type of financial games. It's all about finding the best way for you according to your resources. I think there will be many people coming up with individual solutions and that's what I find interesting.

I liked your idea that things can change over time.) That's what we see all the time from the creators. So I'm also not diving into the hype just yet and will be guided by the circumstances.
Thanks for the review!

The past of Splinterlands has shown that it's often not a good idea to plan too much in advance. This are changing quite frequently but even if they don't change it's good to keep in mind that there will be land 2.0 coming out after land 1.5. So if we invest too much into this first step, maybe we won't have enough at a later stage...

Exactly! And we don't know what will be in the next packs and what will happen with the new reward cards... Lots of X

Hmm am happy with playing my card battles, and I don't own LAND.. Perhaps my little collection of cards will go up in value? Haha.

In the present situation, I would probably also not start to buy land. First it will be very expensive to actually play it and then I think there will be a phase where land will become much cheaper.

I don't own any of Sprinter Land yet but I'm trying to buy one too because the way we see it's being talked about everywhere and its game coming out it's going to be so much better and People will play with great interest.

If you are patient enough, I believe that prices will come down for some lots after surveying has started.
