A voucher sink idea - The summoner's pet

This is just an idea so that we can think about it and discuss things like this

The Summoner's pet

In a role playing game I played in the 80's it was called a "familiar" and I really want to refer to it that way here but I don't know if there is any copyright issue with that.

Here's the idea:

The summoners pet is mostly a cosmetic item that is issued once a year for purchase with vouchers and some kind of game accomplishment requirement. It can only be used by a max bcx summoner.

The pet should only be useable in Diamond league or higher.

Although it is mostly cosmetic it is not exactly useless in battle. It is limited to 2 elements and neutral. Each year 2 are issued and you can only choose 1, you can't have both on 1 account and it is soulbound. It is a animal or spirit animal. It acts on the summoner's behalf but does not always obey the summoner.

How the summoner's pet works

Before the battle begins an obedience roll is done. If the obedience roll fails the pet ignores the ruleset. The way the BCX works for the summoners pet is different than cards and summoners.
There is no gold foil or rarities. There is only 3 levels (3 BCX) for a pet, the levels determine

  1. Its chance to trigger an attack or buff/nerf
  2. Its obedience level

The pet does not "trigger" or roll for chance to buff/nerf until the second round of battle but its attack order is first.

Examples:

Attack or buff/nerf (it is 50/50 chance for each if roll for chance is positive)
1 BCX = 2% chance per round to trigger an attack or buff/nerf
2 BCX = 4% chance per round to trigger an attack or buff/nerf
3 BCX = 6% chance per round to trigger an attack or buff/nerf

Obedience
1 BCX = 30% chance to ignore rule set
2 BCX = 20% chance to ignore rule set
3 BCX = 10% chance to ignore rule set

If for example the ruleset says "no magic" but the pet has a magic attack and it fails the obedience roll it ignores that and attacks with magic anyways

Attacks and buff/nerfs

  1. The summoner's pet never does more than 1 damage. It can't be nerfed or buffed to change that EXCEPTION: in the very unlikely even it triggers twice (2 rounds in a row) it goes to 2 damage. But that has to be max.

  2. It ignores taunt as it has its own attack priority depending on what kind of pet it is. For example a feline pet would prioritize flying cards and sneakers.

  3. It can't be reflected (thorns, magic reflect, return fire) or attacked directly like the summoner.

  4. If a pet has a stat buff or nerf it is never greater than 1 (so -1 or +1) unless it triggers twice (2 rounds in a row) then it goes to 2. But that is max.

  5. If a pet buff or nerf triggers it only lasts 1 round.

  6. Pet attack priority should be designed away from tanks and taunts.
