Not sure about DOTA, I never played that.
I have been playing Splinterlands battles since the First day of it and yes, it's a daily thing for me :)

Yes,its a play to earn game. it is like Pokémon, magic the gathering. It will take you 10$ to start and then you can either buy cards or grind ingame crypto currency to buy to rank up.
