Explosive Weaponry Modifier In Focus

avatar

Explosive Weaponry Modifier gives all units the Blast ability which makes every attack hit more than one target. When a unit attacks, the main target takes full damage and the units beside it also take extra damage. This makes battles very fast because many units can die at the same time. Positioning becomes very important since one mistake can cause three units to take damage and one of them might accidentally die from Blast.

Modifiers

Explosive Weaponry - All Units have the Blast ability.

  • Deflect is one of the best counters to Explosive Weaponry Modifier because it negates the effect of Blast on adjacent units. When a unit with Deflect is next to the main target it will not take Blast damage which reduces the damage the Blast can do. This helps protect low health units from dying too fast. If you want to fully control Explosive Weaponry modifier, pick a Taunt unit, place him in the end, and then place a unit with Deflect beside it. This way, only the unit with Taunt will take damage and no one else will suffer Blast damage.

ModifierNameDescription
DeflectThis Unit is immune to all indirect, or reflected damage. That means that it will not take damage from Blast, Thorns, Return Fire, or Magic Reflect
- Deflect is one of the best counters to Explosive Weaponry Modifier because it negates the effect of Blast on adjacent units.
VoidReduced damage from Magic attacks
- Void is very useful in Explosive Weaponry Modifier especially when magic attacks are common. If the main attack is magic then the Blast damage is also magic which means Void can reduce that damage. In some cases if the Blast damage is only 1, Void can completely block it and prevent units from taking any damage. This ability helps control damage from magic heavy teams and reduce that Blast if you don't have Deflect.
SnipeTargets enemy Units with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position
- Snipe becomes very strong in Explosive Weaponry Modifier because it bypasses the tank and hits the middle of the enemy lineup. When Snipe hits the target the Blast damage spreads to units beside it which often means 3 units take damage in one attack. This makes Snipe one of the most efficient ways to use Blast since it avoids the front tank and damages the most units in the back. In my battle, Torrent Sniper was very important because attacking the middle units gave maximum Blast value and helped spread the damage.
Double StrikeUnit attacks twice each round.
- Double Strike is very dangerous in Explosive Weaponry Modifier because Blast activates on every attack. Since Double Strike means that your unit attacks 2 times, it triggers Blast 2 times as well which spreads even more damage. This means more damage to the enemy team and hopefully, some of them can die before they get a chance to attack again.
BloodlustEvery time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats
- Bloodlust becomes even stronger in Explosive Weaponry Modifier because kills can happen from Blast damage and still count for stacks. If a unit dies from Blast, the attacking unit gains a Bloodlust stack which increases its stats. The more damage the unit gains, the stronger the next Blast becomes as well which can create a snowball effect. This can quickly turn one strong unit into an hyper carry threat that keeps killing more units every round both from normal attacks and the blast damage.

Battle Breakdown

Early Game:
In this battle, I used Weapons Training to overcome the low mana battle. Weapons Training allows me to use non attacking units which has lower mana than their stats show. This allowed me to keep having strong units while not sacrificing anything. Daarg Deadblast gives magic attack through Weapons Training so the units that gained his attack also gets bonus from Marlai Singariel. The key unit though is Torrent Sniper with Snipe. Bypassing tanks and attacking the middle of the group means more Blast damage targets overall.

Mid Game:
The death of Halfling Refugee is okay and controlled. I just added him as a filler unit to absorb some of the damage. Ulundin Overseer is my main tank and is now standing in the front but my enemy would not last long... not at this rate.

Late Game:
With only Halfling Refugee as the casualty, I won this battle decisively. The Explosive Weaponry modifier giving Blast to my units allow me to finish the job much quicker ending the battle at round 2. I'd say that there was no problem during the battle. It's just that my units and lineup was way stronger than the enemy could handle which allowed me to win easy.

Closing Thoughts

Explosive Weaponry Modifier is all about smart positioning and ability synergy. Since every attack spreads Blast damage, you must think carefully about where you place your units and if you must, sacrifice some of them for the benefit of the many. Abilities like Deflect, Void and strong attackers like Snipe or Double Strike can control the flow of battle. If you manage the damage from Blast well, you can control which units are to survive. That is important if you want to win the fight in just a few rounds.
