Tis But Scratches battles can be impactful at times. Since max health keeps getting reduced over time fights do not last as long as normal games even with some heal strategy in play. Every hit matters more because the damage is not only about the current damage but also affects what comes after.
What makes this Modifier interesting is how it changes the value of many abilities. Things that hit multiple times or force repeated attacks can have better or worse value depending on how you view it. At the same time healing and sustain strategies, which is the strongest in the game, start to feel weaker as the battle goes on.

Tis But Scratches - All units have Cripple (-1 to target's max health after each successful attack; does not affect units with Immunity).
- Tis But Scratches Modifier is all about repeated consistent damage. Since everyone gains Cripple ability, the longer the fight goes the weaker all units become. This rewards players who can apply many hits early and punish a more defensive setup.

Even low damage units can become useful just by adding more hits. The faster you stack Cripple the more it becomes a problem for your enemies. | ||

| - Double Strike fits perfectly in Tis But Scratches Modifier. Attacking twice per round means Cripple is applied twice as well. This accelerates the max health reduction since units can attack multiple times per round. Unfortunately, there are no archons that can give your units this so you can only rely on units that already have it like Kelan Gaines. Units with Double Strike become high priority in this modifier. If left unchecked they can melt tanks very quickly. However, these units are often fragile so protecting them is still important. | ||

| - Life Leech is a good counter tool in Tis But Scratches Modifier. While Cripple reduces max health Life Leech increases it when the unit attacks. This helps balance out the health loss over time. Using Life Leech allows a unit to stay in the field longer without sacrificing the max health. It does not fully cancel Cripple but it slows the effect. Units that attack often or those with high damage benefit the most from this ability. You can use Lorkus and give this to your tankiest units to counter the effect of Cripple. | ||

| - Taunt works very well in Tis But Scratches Modifier when used correctly. Since all attacks are forced into one unit that unit will receive many Cripple stacks. This rapidly lowers its max health but also protects the rest of the team. This comes with a big risk though. If you only have one Taunt unit serving as a tank, your heals will not be as effective to it. Either use multiple Taunt units or make sure the game ends before your Taunt unit dies. | ||

| - Tank Heal becomes weaker in Tis But Scratches Modifier as the battle goes on. Healing is based on max health so lower max health means smaller heals. This is also true in other healing abilities like Heal, Triage and Corrupted Healing. This forces players to rethink their strategies if they rely a lot on heals and tanks. When there's Tis But Scratches modifier in play, I normally don't use healing or defensive strategies but rather, I aim to end the game quick. |

Tis But Scratches Modifier rewards aggressive play and repeated attacks. Abilities like Weapons Training with multi attacks and Double Strike shine because they apply Cripple more often. Life Leech helps soften the downside while Taunt and Tank Heal need careful use. I enjoy this modifier from time to time because it requires you to not rely on healing strategies. Just make sure to end the game early and fast and you will have too much trouble in this modifier. Lastly, remember that even if you take no damage like with Shield or Void, it would still lessen your unit's max health so make sure that you stay aggressive instead.
