# Trying a brand new strategy - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 9 Report Card

So...... dang it.... I totally whiffed the season before last's report card. This means I'll be comparing this report card to the one 2 seasons ago (Season 7) so that's a bummer.

My performance in Season 9 was so bad, that I've actually completely changed my strategy.
My strategy was:
Step 1.) - First half of the season - only play enough to get one chest to help out my guild.
Step 2.) - Second half of the season - play more to work through the leagues.
Step 3.) - Last day or so, absolutely romp it in, getting huge win streaks and force my way into Champs III.
My thought was that I'd let all the accounts with similar or more powerful collections get way ahead of me, and then I'll easily catch up and use those win streaks to skip through the leagues more quickly.
The problem was... I'm really bad at Gold Leagues.
The beauty of Splinterlands is that the different leagues require different strategies and decks. A deck that is pretty powerful in the Diamond leagues will be missing some important abilities that massively reduce the effectiveness of that deck.
Gold League and below takes a bit of rewiring of my brain, and remembering which cards are more useful in Gold than in Diamond/Champs.
So the reality was that even (or because of) a week delay, I couldn't get any momentum and only managed to get to Diamond II which is my lowest league for a really long time... like years maybe.
For this current season I've adapted my strategy. Basically first thing each morning I try and get a win streak of 5 or more, but I'll finish up if I've suffered 3 losses in a row.
It's been going well... my win/loss ratio is really good (much better than in season 9) and I'm only 100 rank points away from where I was at the end of Season 9, but with 7 days to go. I expect to do much better.

For Total Ranked Play Earnings in Season 7 I got:

So obviously my Diamond II standing instead of Diamond I really affected the credit value, the DEC value and the SPS value of my rewards. Which is exactly how it should be.

My NET in Season 7 was 15801.368 and I suspect the difference might be the various announced changes by the Splinterlands team to incentivize combining cards for rewards. I combine all my cards all the time, including my rentals, so I'm guessing my rentals will get a bit more popular now.

My NET SPS for Season 7 was 8427.333 and my Voucher Drops were 913.281.
I'm guessing my performance is less a factor here, and instead it's that more people are staking SPS and therefore the staking pool is getting stretched thinner. Totally fine by me honestly. The more the merrier!
I'm really excited to compare this report card to my next one. I'm hoping for some considerable improvements... but let's see!

Some big numbers up there in gold and diamond. I just got enough card power to advance in Silver !LOL , though I am holding off entering until nearer the end of this season. Will interesting to see how my cards go in Silver, might be a pit painful but will enjoy not dropping as low at the season restart.

It makes such a massive difference where you start the season. When I can break into Champs III it makes a huge difference for the whole next season (unless I have a really lucky run).
Be interesting to see if you need slightly different strategies in Silver than you did in Bronze.
I am expecting to need extra cards and have to level everything up to Level 3, might be a long slow, expensive process but an interesting challenge

I really understand what you are explaining about the leagues, I usually play in gold but when I have reached diamond I realize that everything is totally different. so I prefer to stay in gold and make more chests

I personally have to play in at least Diamond or else I just can't seem to win. I am glad you've found your preferred league. Does it take you long to get back to Gold from the season reset?
yeah it can take some time... like 3 or sometimes 4 days...
the first days is just HARD! sometiimes i'm like rating 1600-1800 and i play vs people in rating 1000-1200 wich causes that if i winn i only get 10 pts BUT if i lose i loose whole 40-50 pts and that make really really hard to climb back to gold league

I honestly usually skip the first day, and just try again on the 2nd day. It's like I have to wait for all the really good players to run ahead before I can actually win some games.
the last day of the season i squeeze out my rc to almost 50% so i skip the first day too, but the second day is when the game pays more SPS per battle , so it is a good day to start the grind!
