# Broke the rule, got burned! - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 16 Report Card

@aussieninja

Soooooooooo...... in the distant past, the last couple of hours of a Splinterlands season was an opportunity to gain so much ground. I remember burning through entire leagues in those hours... you'd get a couple of wins in a row and be jumping +70 ranking ratings...

For me Season 16 was going to finish at 6am.
The night before I finally broke into Diamond 1... I wasn't expecting to but had a lucky break.

I was happy with that... but the next morning I was weirdly wide awake at 5am, and remembered the potential gains of those last hours and thought I would give it a go.

I knew that those last hours had gotten way tougher in the last year or so... but forgot... and I paid dearly.

I was easily in Diamond 1 by 30 points and thought I had enough of a buffer, and an opportunity to break into Champs III... it's been a long time since I clawed my way into the Champions leagues.

I was bounced hard... I fought for 45 minutes and lost so much that I dropped 150 ranking ratings, and stopped only when the Battle button greyed out.

I knew the rule that the last hours will break you. I broke it and it broke me.

I think generally I was doing pretty well.

Obviously the 3 rulesets change came into play which I've been very much enjoying. I'm definitely seeing much more varied decks, which is great, even if it is harder to win as bots become less predictable.

I am absolutely loving the concept of the Soulbound reward cards. If you remember I thought it might take a good year or two before I would be able to win enough cards to even be able to play any of the new reward cards in the Diamond leagues....

... I was very wrong. I don't have any playable just yet, but I do have some at Level 3 already in just two seasons. Getting multiple cards in a single loot chest slot is so good! Really happy with that. I don't think I've seen many of the cards in battles yet, but I'm sure it's not too far away. very curious to see how they change gameplay.

You can see I won 52 reward cards instead of my usual 30ish... really happy with that.
It definitely doesn't worry me that they're bound to my account. I don't think I've really ever sold any cards so these changes definitely work well for me.

The credits value of the rewards are a little down from last season because I was so lucky with card packs. Winning 5 card packs in a single season might be a thing of the past... it's all about those reward cards now.

WHOA!

My SPS earnings are down nearly half of last season:

Season 15 my Net SPS was 17757.516.
Season 14 my Net SPS was 14016.525.
Season 13 my Net SPS was 12265.515.

So... what was the reason for this fairly dramatic decrease?

Staking rewards play a big part of that S13 was 4991, S14 was 5224 and S15 was 7270. I don't know why staking rewards would be down nearly half.. I haven't removed any SPS. Within Splinterlands 23.82% APR at 979M total supply... I don't recall what those numbers were before... but it's not like the APR has halved or the total supply has doubled. Mysterious!

License Stake Rewards are nearly half too, as are the Liquidity Rewards. The others are either the same(ish) or more... all the staking stuff is way down... I wonder if it was a super short season?

I think there is a lot to be excited about. I'm excited about CL getting burnt out in a month and a half. I did get about 5K DEC-B and regretted it immediately... because I want to use DEC to buy cards and DEC-B doesn't do that. Maybe I'll be happy about it in the future, but for the moment, not so much.

It seems like there is going to be an absolute ton of things that will burn through vouchers this year, so I'm glad I've been pretty much ignoring those guys.

The Soulsbound cards are going to be interesting once they hit the higher levels. At the moment, I don't think I have use done yet.

oh no, I used that mushroom thingy in Earth to steal a couple HP from it :)

Yeah, definitely the mushroom thingy seems the most useful at lower levels... like, you probably never really want it to have much health honestly.

It might take 6 months or so, there are still a lot of cards to collect spread out over the set, but I really am super keen to see them join battles.

As always it sounds very interesting and exciting up top. I found a guild and am enjoy the brawls. I was worried it would all be to time consuming but it doesn't that much longer and the rewards seem good.

I'm so glad you've found a guild. The brawls don't honestly take me that long to do. I'm a bit torn about them... when you do them early then they are super quick because you don't have the battles play out (ie, your opponents probably haven't put their teams in) but if you submit your teams later, then you see the battles play out which means you learn on the spot what works and what doesn't. I tend to do better if I watch the brawl battles play out.

Now that there are reward cards that can bring Gladiator cards into normal battles, I'm super keen to level up the Gladiator cards as soon as possible, so I'm super motived to put my brawls in.

I believe for some people it might be tempting that one might want to sell his investment in splinterland due to the price level but trust me if only they can still hold on and wait for a rise in the value

I think, unfortunately, that's up to each individual investor, we can never really know what someone's situation is and what problems they are trying to solve. Nothing is guaranteed in life, especially something like Splinterlands, it may never rise in value, or it may rise then crash. You never know, but the fact that it's fun to play right now does give me some level of confidence.

Reaching Diamond 1 is an achievement in it self, It shows how dedicated hard working you are for splinter lands, Staking is not remaining benefit at all these days, due to the price decrease also due to Decrease in APR as well.

That's the thing... I haven't been tracking the staking APR in Splinterlands... but it looks to be about the same level it's been for over a year... so I'm not sure why the staking rewards have pretty much halved. Especially since the price of SPS has actually slightly increased over the last couple of seasons.
