Splinterlands - 15k DEC this month from SPS rentals

Today I had to cancel and renew my SPS delegation. Every delegation that we do lasts only for 7 days and we can cancel the delegation after 7 days and fill a different bid. When we fill a bid, we instantly get DEC credited to the account and the SPS is locked for the next 7 days. Initially, I was wondering how I will know if a delegation got ended or not. There was an indication displayed on the Splinterlands main site that shows that the rental got ended. I can then get my delegated SPS back.

It was only this month when the SPS rental market was introduced. Thanks to Splinterlands and Monstermarket for providing a nice user interface for the same. I started experimenting with SPS rental during the first week. I was curious and did not know how it can get fruitful. Today it is almost the end of the month and I won't be filling any SPS rental bids in the next few days so I can probably calculate my DEC earnings from the SPS rental market.

As mentioned in the title of the article, I'm happy to share that I was able to grab a total of 15k DEC per month as a rental for my 100k SPS. I was able to delegate my 100k SPS and receive this as a reward. 15k DEC is somewhere close to 15$ assuming DEC is soft pegged to 1$ per 1000 DEC. I'm confident that it would reach its soft-pegged value soon. The more stake I have, I think I can generate more DEC from the rental income. The good thing about SPS rentals is that, it also helps in burning some DEC.

I was observing a few things about the rental market and next month I think I should be able to increase my rewards a little bit more. The most important thing is to not wait for the bids to appear with a better APR. This way we are just losing days without listing them in the market. In the last two weeks, I found out that listing them for a decent price is better than keeping them idle and waiting for a better price. Some time back I listed a huge amount of SPS for 0.007 DEC but now when I check the bids, there are already some decent requests for 0.008 DEC. It keeps coming and going. But I'm still happy for listing them for 0.007 DEC than waiting and missing the opportunity.

But I did learn a lot as I said. I'm going to try and explore what I learned and would try and see if I can increase my earnings in the coming month. Nothing is set in stone but just a try from my end. By the way, I have also not decided what I should be doing with the DEC earned. I'm also earning some SPS from the staking rewards. I was wondering if I should be pushing them together in DEC:SPS diesel pool. Let me think about it.

The income from card rentals has drastically gone down but I'm glad that the opportunity is now in the form of SPS rental. I'm sure splinterlands would keep bringing more and more earning opportunities from the game. Some opportunities are good for the old players and some opportunities are good for people who expect a passive income from the game.
