Splinterlands - Getting the focus you want is the hot item of the latest release

In Splinterlands, the amazing play2earn game on the Hive blockchain, releases continue to drop even if there are some turbulences caused by the financial situation of the company. We surely felt until now the effect of a short term strategy which put revenue ahead of sustainability in order to survive the bear market. But not as Matt took over the financial and development strategies at once and he has a more long term and decentralized strategy, I have bigger hopes for the future. I am realistic and well aware that he first needs to ensure financing for day to day operations and only after that he can put into motion his vision. But we all need to give him a try and see how his new approach unfolds. And until that happens, we can only enjoy a vivid game which keeps on growing with each new release. And the latest one brought out some new goodies, so let's see what are those.

Getting The Focus You Want

You can now get additional re-rolls on your daily focus by burning in-game Vouchers. The cost per re-roll per league is as per below table.

The Daily Focus is quite important as if you NFT collection is focused on specific summoners and cards, in order to make the most earnings you need a specific one. Thus adding more rolls that you can throw and get the Daily Focus that you want is a good development which will help the players strategize in order to increase the earnings and simply destroy the enemies on the battlefield putting each time the best formation. Thus, I think this is a smart and welcomed feature in the game.

Updated Terms of Service

The terms of service have been updated to add brawls and tournaments to the game modes where using automated play is prohibited per this passed proposal. Language has also been added to expand what is considered illegal modes of play for Ranked Modern, Tournament, and Brawls per passed proposal. Users will need to accept the updated terms of service on next login.

Another update that brings transparency to the rules of the game that the players voted upon through a DAO proposal and which was implemented. A great proof of the DAO power and how the community drives the game onto a sustainable path on which existing and new players would want to embark.

General Updates

• We have added a Card Collection filter that shows cards that “Can Be Rented”. These are cards that are owned by the current player, that are not on the market, that are not Soulbound, and have not been played recently, so would not have a cooldown for other users.
• Fixed an issue with max level cards not displaying their collection power bonus on the Tech Modernization displays.
• Fixed an issue where the Lock option was incorrectly appearing as active for some cards on the Card Collection view.
• Added the bcx, land_base_pp, and land_dec_stake_needed fields to the card collection API results.
• Fixed the circulating supply for cards not updating on the display.

Great to see new filtering options added as those simply cannot be enough. Through my Splinterlands blogging I've also proposed different filters and I am glad to see a new one added that will make our life easier when viewing the card collection and seeing which cards we own or have been rented. Besides this there were performed different small fixes which are part of the development routine of fixing issues.

Overall I consider this a good upgrade of the game which brought some new uses cases for Vouchers by enabling re-rolls through their consumption. This is a smart idea and whenever we have new use cases, it means that the tokenomics from the Splinterlands game are flourishing. Like a house is being built brick by brick, in the same manner the tokenomics from the game are expanding and consolidating. Thus, I welcome such changes and hope for more in the future.
