Splinterlands - My thoughts about the League Tier Advancement & Rewards

avatar

The last upgrade in the Splinterlands, brought us some new nice features, but in the same time brought back some of the lost features and thrills from the past. And if you don't know about what I am talking about it is the excitement of opening rewards chests and try your like same as Roulette to hit it big. Of course this is correlated to your performance and how much you are in the League, thus higher levels will provide you better rewards. This feature was revived in the Splinterlands under the "League Tier Advancement & Rewards", but it came with some perks and specifics that make it more suitable to the current game developments and more sustainable in my opinion.

The League Tier Advancement & Rewards added a new dimension of benefits for the players with the aim to keep them entertained in the game on a regular basis. Play daily, perform, advance and you will be rewarded as you level up along. While having experiences this new gameplay dimension, I want to point out the following perks and benefits coming from it.

Brings back the excitement of opening Rewards Chests

Most of us like to take chances and have some fun while doing that. And one thing that I was missing from the game was the excitement of opening Rewards Chests. The thrill in the anticipation of a possible Legendary Gold Foil that could cost hundred of dollars on the market, is something that offered anyone fair chances to hit it big. And now, we've got that back and maybe even in a better form which I will details in the bellow bullet point.

Rewards are given as you advance and not at the end of the Season

While in the past we were given a number of Rewards Chests to open at the End of the Season, now we are being rewarded as we progress along and we get those for each League Tier Advancement that we perform. Thus, we have the motivation to grind, to fight, to play and engage in order to level up sooner rather than later.

If you are regular player, you can advance 2 - 3 tiers per season

By playing as many battles as you can I believe that in a season you can tap at least 2 or 3 tiers, thus you'll get Rewards Chests at each threshold. This is quite amazing as things are releases as you progress and not at the end of the season. Thus the motivation levels are kept during the entire season and not only as a push at the end.

I am quite excited by the League Tier Advancements rewards through chests as it became a tradition and routine in Splinterlands that we all got to love. Now the thrill feeling is back and I am playing with more joy than when no rewards chests were granted. It is great that we came back to them in a better form and that Splinterlands listens to the community feedback and also to ways of making the game sustainable. There needs to be a balance between that and I think that one step at a time it is established.

I love the tier advancement chests because they finally make the tier jump relevant again.
Ever since they abolished the league system the league you were in hardly mattered, it was only about your rating. With this change, I have something to work towards again.

So I just advanced to Champ 3 this season and didn't get any rewards... did you notice that or is it just me?

That sounds odd - I've gotten all my chests so far when I advanced.
Best to file a support ticket I guess.

Here's my Reward Chest summary 🤔

It was supposed to be a reward EACH SEASON right... 😨😭

Haha I know it was, probably just a glitch somewhere 😅

It is each season, yes ;-)
But did you finish last season in Champion I?
In this case you'd start the season in Champion III already, so you'll only get rewards for advancing to Champion II and Champion I but not for starting in Champion III.

Haha, well that's one option for sure :D
Do keep in mind that you will earn considerably less Glint and SPS by staying in a lower league. I don't think that's really worth it.
You could probably buy more chests with the extra Glint you'd earn from ranking higher.

I just meant finish the Season in C2... Get up to C1, earn the most, then if close... bust down to C2 lol

I also like this change mainly because without them it was going to be a lot harder to get close to maxing the reward card set. It also mainly is nice for new players giving an extra incentive to climb ranks. However, the side-effect of extra chests is that a lot more energy will be given out. I would say it's time to change the 60 minute energy refresh to 80 miniutes. I still don't understand how a dynamic where players in wild are forced to play at least 1 hour daily and possibly more with the extra energy from all the reward chests. It narrows the potential player base like crazy since most simply don't have time for that.

This newly introduced feature will no doubt increase the rewards per player in SPS and make the game all the more interesting. You seem pretty excited about it. Maybe it will help attract more players to the game. Thanks for writing.

I also feel the same, and agree. This was a good update after a very long time 😁

I think everyone misses that experience of opening chests. I think the splinterlands messed up big time by taking that away and it hasn't really been good. Players needed that to feel that excitement. Players could randomly pull a GFL soulbound cards

Just like when there are good things then some old things are gone so it is better that we have to play the game with these good and new features so that we can play the game with more interest.
