Splinterlands - Rebellion mechanics should keep cards inflation in place

The Rebellion entered the Splinterlands portal and it traverses the pre-sale phase while we all try to get a grip on what this means. The highly-anticipated Rebellion NFT card set future release is set to usher in a new era of excitement and opportunities for players. Scheduled for launch on Tuesday, December 5th, during the regular maintenance period, this release promises a host of benefits, innovative features, but also a more balanced approach to game tokenomics.

A new gameplay experience

The Rebellion set will introduce fresh cards and game mechanics, adding a new layer of strategy and tactics for players. With the release, the Untamed set will rotate out of the Modern format, breathing new life into the game. Players will need to extend their strategy and probably along the way we'll see new rules on the battlefield, thus better prepare to get the maximum out of our collections.

General sale and packs availability

For players eager to get their hands on the Rebellion booster packs, the general sale will commence on the same day. There will be a generous total of 9.5 million Rebellion packs available during the general sale. Together with the pre-sale allocation of 0.5 million, that will push the supply to 10 million Rebellion packs. The pricing and bulk purchase bonuses for these packs will add some more inflation to that, so we see again a considerable amount of packs offered for sale, but those have a twist in it with some new burning mechanics implemented from the gecko.

Limited supply, more value

What sets this release apart from the previous one, it is the unique approach for balancing supply and demand. Splinterlands has implemented a system where any unsold booster packs – up to 25,000 per day – will be removed from the sale pool. Notably, these unsold packs won't simply vanish; instead, 90% of them will be burned, while the remaining 10% will be sent to the DAO. This strategic move ensures that the set will be completely sold out within approximately one year from the start of the general sale, regardless of how many packs are sold. This approach lets the market organically dictate the total circulation of Rebellion packs and cards. While I wasn't eager of a new edition of cards hitting the market, having this mechanics in place is comended.

Empowering the DAO

The decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is set to play a pivotal role in this release and going forward. It will receive a remarkable 50% of all revenue generated from Rebellion pack sales through the Splinterlands website. This move underlines the commitment to creating a unique bond between players and the development company, showcasing the immense potential of blockchain-based games. And I wonder what kind of action we'll see towards the DAO Treasury as there is an approved proposal to hire Clayboyn as DAO Community and Project Manager. I hope that in this role, Clayboyn will put some of the DAO assets to work and provide additional revenue for all the holders. But I am still reserved on the output on this, so let's see how it plays out.

With a promise of a thrilling new set, exciting gameplay mechanics, and a strategic approach to scarcity, the Rebellion NFT card set in Splinterlands is aiming to captivate players and redefine their experience in the world of blockchain gaming. While we are still in bearish waters in the crypto market, I believe that having the burning mechanism attached to the daily sales of Rebellion packs is the best way to go at it and not to harm this game ecosystem. Building and releasing new features in the Splinterlands as for the bear market, will ultimately ensure the survival and success of the game above all. This is the way!

Will you rise with the Rebellion?

If not, you still have a chance on it, come and join Splinterlands!

With the market down right now the prices of the cards are low and this is a good time to buy them and the way we see updates are coming which is very good for the game and in the near future. The prices will also go up a lot.

I've jumped on that, but not sure at what to look for - the new Premium subscription or something else?
