What if I liquidate and Reinvest?

I've been thinking about different ways to improve my Splinterlands deck to enable me to compete favourably in Gold league. At the time of writing, my deck is only maxed out in the Silver level and while that is quite decent from the perspective of one that was out of the game, I'm far from satisfied.

In the past couple of days, I found out that my deck is actually good enough to brawl my way into Gold 2 but that's as far as I can go. Getting to Gold 2 with my deck was no ordinary feat, by the way, because it involved scalping some unexpected victories against superior opponents along the way.

The underdog story is nice and all but the way I see it, I could be doing a lot better if I make some concessions. It is a tough choice to make and one that I'm going to be mauling over for a while.

Opportunity cost

So the plan is pretty simple but one that is somewhat complicated by the state of the market. I kind of wonder if this is the best time to be making such a move, particularly with monsters in general still being underpriced.

I keep thinking about liquidating my gold foils and then reinvesting the money into upgrading my normal foiled decks. Making that trade looks like it could be a huge boost for my deck.

At the time of writing, I have a decent collection of Gold Foil monsters valued at around $370 according to Peakmonsters. The gold foils in my deck also gross a total of 64,250 collection power to boot.

On one hand, investing $370 into my collection will lead to some dramatic improvements across the board. The question is, will it be worth it in the long run?

All I'm saying is that all it takes is one bull market to come around and this collection of Gold foils could easily be worth upwards of $1000. Of course, if this happens, it means that the $1000 could have basically the same effect on my deck as the $370 would since the pump will be across the board but that's not the point.

The issue is deciding to actually pull the trigger and relinquish the future potential of these monsters. I keep pondering over this decision and no matter how I play it out in my head, it doesn't seem like a good decision.

No slackers

The reason why I'm focusing on my Gold foils more than most is because most of them don't contribute to my gameplay. They're mostly just in my deck to boost my collection power.

It is a frustrating situation because as much as I'd like to let go of them through a sale or lease, I can't afford to lose that much collection power.

To put it into perspective, my personal deck has a total collection power of 158,540, and as I mentioned earlier, only the Gold foils in my collection offer 64,250 collection power. So, that's like 40% of the total collection power and the worse part is that at $370, all my gold foils only contribute roughly 17% of the total dollar value of my deck.

If you're not going to contribute to my daily brawls and you're also not going to be super expensive, what exactly am I even doing with you? What would you do if you were me, will you liquidate your Gold Foils and reinvest the value into your deck?

I wouldn't do it. I get my golds up to the same level as my ordinary and then rent the ordinary cards. You get more sps for your ranked battles if you got golds on your team. Alot more! If I was going to it I'd reinvest my golds into the cards you would use mostly therefore getting the sps rewards more for your ranked battles.
