The Future of SPS

Let's talk SPS. If you've dabbled in Splinterlands longer than the past 4-5 months you'd remember SPS reaching $0.88 mid October of last year.We got introduced for the first time to Vouchers with which you could buy the first 3 million packs of the Chaos Legion expansion. This pumped up the price of sps closer to it's launch ATH price of $1.07 back in late July. And what goes up , must come down. It's been a steady downhill from there. Currently as of today April 10th 2022 the price of SPS is $0.107 ... so what gives? Well each month the VC's (early investors) that fronted the capital for SPS get their share of SPS (20 million to be exact) and SOME of them cash out. This keeps pushing down the price.But that is not the only reason. Some might argue this is just a small part of the reason. The stuff gets airdropped for free just for holding splinterlands assets and there is very few use cases other than staking and getting Vouchers for which there is currently no use case other than gathering some more and waiting for another use cas e. Which will most likely be at the launch of the next mini card set "Riftwatchers".

What can we expect from SPS in the future ?

Well, at the end of this month those early investors get their last airdrop of 20 million sps and ... that's it. This could bump up the price of SPS a bit. What will get things moving is more SPS use cases. We have a mini card set "Riftwatchers" comming out that will be purchasable only with sps and each pack will be $5 worth of SPS which will go to the treasury.
At the second quarter of this year we are also expecting SPS rewards from ranked battles.

Early next year SPS will be integral part of the land expansion, sps validator nodes are scheduled to come even sooner - this quarter actualy, in game governance dependent on staked SPS. And like Aggroed said - you need vouchers to get the cool stuff, and we get vouchers just by holding SPS. Oh ... and the airdrops aren't infinite. We've got about 107 more days before the tap runs dry and SPS won't be so easy to come by.

To sum all this up. If you believe in the Splinterlands team to deliver like they have been doing for the past 3 years, SPS has a bright future ahead of it.
