Midweek Report: The Story Behind the Untamed! The Most Creative Era In Splinterlands History. [Fiction]

avatar

There has been many reports written suggesting that Splinterlands went through an era of Spiritual Enlightment during the Untamed days which had seen many great developments and new cards that changed the nature of the game forever. These cards especially the introduction of some 7 mana legendary summoners really saw the game go up a level in strategy and performance making the game globally popular. More abilities were introduced and it was like a Renaissance period for Splinterlands HQ.
Some commentators say it rivaled the creative development that Steve Jobs went through with Apple or when the era around when Beatles released Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club.
There was something is common here with the parties above. They were all high on acid.
But how did Splinterlands do it?
A dev came out in an interview lately and suggested the creativity was down to two young devs in particular that were always off their heads on something or other. Frustrations grew in Splinterlands around Brad and Ted but they were creative when they wanted to be so one of the head guys came up with a cunning plan. They knew the reason for their hot streak which came in bursts. Class A drugs.

They would float into the office with their surfer hair and just throw out these mad ideas. Some of them stuck and the team went with them. The team knew that stamps of acid were involved but they looked the other way.

"Wow man I just stumbled upon this Llama with a scar in the desert and a nice little poncho on him" laughed one of the dudes who had a lightbulb movement while he was happily experiencing his latest trip.
"We can give him a 7 mana and the last stand ability."
"Woahhh knarly dude"

"I'm riding this Kron guy with a beard now and nobody can kill us. He keeps healing himself and has a 4 magic. He looks a bit like Greek god but green"

"Woah dude that is sooooooo cool."
"Let's hold hands and defeat our enemies together dude."
"We will be invincible."

While Brad and Ted fought invisible enemies with their two new friends, Jessica the Splinterlands intern was scribbling frantically in her notebook in an adjacent office.

Because the drug induced pair were coming up with so many ideas , Jessica was given the task to transcribe the acid trips that these two ragamuffins were on. Splinterlands gave them a corner office to have their brainstorming creative sessions (trips) in. She brought them two large bean bags, had the room painted with flowers and got them a giant teddy bear. She mic'ed the room up and waited until the acid kicked in. Then she would bring her findings to the heads of departments and they would get to work in bringing these characters to life.

One day the two lads were being chased by a fox like cat thing and every time Brad got hit by an arrow so did Ted. The blast ability was born. The two lads were running around the room while this imaginary cat blasted them again and again. At first Jessica thought it was funny watching two grown men diving for cover around a small room. But she had to call security after Brad and Ted started frantically scratching at the window. She felt a bit guilty that night telling the powers that be about Yodin Zaku and how it was the most powerful of all summoners as the crazy cat would give Brad and Ted nightmares for the rest of their days.
The next day, as was their trauma Brad and Ted only took a half of a stamp each and ended up rubbing a nice little pussycat for the day. Their latest acid trip took them on an excursion to Istanbul Turkey so they spent the day resting and relaxing with a cat they named Byzantine Kitty who rejuvenated them.

Over the course of the next few weeks the upper crusts decided whether they needed ideas for a nice monster or a more sinister one. Maintenance had to pad the walls of the office after Brad knocked himself out being chased by a human sized eyeball called Cornealus.

Another day they were riding an "luminous eagle" and had a great time so while they had very scary times, they had good times as well.

Finally after 84 days and 84 acid trips the Untamed project was finished. Brad and Ted walked out of the corner room to a hero's welcome. Applauds rang out around them and everyone stood up while they walked passed them to the exit of Splinterlands. They were unaware what they had accomplished but it was huge and would progress the game to new heights. Brad jumped with the fear when he passed by a human sized cardboard cut out of Yodin Zaku. Ten broke down in tears.

Meanwhile behind the gigantic glass window that overlooked the atrium below. The board watched as their two star employees exited.

"Keep an eye on these two."
"Dice is next and then we have Chaos Legion after that which will be huge."
"Make sure nothing happened to them!!"
"The entire Splinterlands project rests on their young shoulders McGarnicle, they need to survive the summer."
"I'll have my best people on the job sir."
"And McGarnicle, get them into detox!
"Yes sir!"

A wild adventure right there my Brotha of Blanch.

Lets heal like Kron and Cornelius. Let our hair flow like the Byzantine Kittys Fur. Let our strength stack like....well, let us just be strong. Love the creative flow buddy.
