Friends…The time is just about upon us, to see how we fared in the 9th overall, but 1st of the 6 Legendary Airdrops coming to us from Splinterland’s Chaos Legion set. It took a few months to sell through this batch of 1 million packs from 8 million to 9, but the last 100k or so went in a flash. FOMO of course plays a part in these things, but I also think it was heavily influenced by the fact that the SPS airdrop is ending in just over 2 weeks, and lots of DEC is floating in those liquidity pools. Naturally some folks will be shifting that to other assets in the ecosystem…in this case…packs.

If you aren’t familiar with how this works, I’ll give a quick refresher. Throughout the 15 million packs in the Chaos Legion set, a new card is added to the set each time 1 million packs sells through the shop. At that point, not only will you be able to obtain that new addition when opening packs going forward, but you’ll also be able to check your luck on how you fared in the airdrop. With each pack you purchase through the shop, it gives you a small chance of receiving that card for free!!! For every 550 packs purchased, you’ll be guaranteed to receive 1. Then there’s also a small chance you can be Uber lucky and receive a Gold Foil version. Yummy!!!

To check your luck, hop on to the pack shop pack and click the Airdrop button. There you’ll see all of the previous airdrop cards in the set. Luckily I’ll be pretty set for at least a max copy as I’ll be receiving at least 15 of these badboys. Fingers crossed for a Gold. Good luck on this today!!!

Ok, now that we’ve tackled that…let’s take a look at the card itself. Once again, this is the first of the 6 Legendary Summoners that the top 6 pre sale pack purchasers helped design. Behold…Grandmaster Rathe!!!

Sporting a 6 mana cost to use on the battlefield, he also provides +1 armor, void shield (meaning magic attacks will hit the shield before attacking health), and amplify (which adds a +1 attack on magic reflect, thorns, and return fire) to ALL friendly monsters. Additions like this open up a bunch of new playing options. While Life is by far my personal weakest splinter, I’m still super pumped for it to enter the battlefield and hopefully shake things up a bit.

I wish you all good luck on your Airdrops! Let me know how you fared!

If for some reason you are living under a rock and have not given Splinterlands a go yet, be sure to hop on and see what the #1 Blockchain Game has to offer.

I don't seem to get any of these card airdrops. I guess it's down to luck. I keep playing anyway.

I think for this drop, you need to have bought a minimum of 350 packs from Splinterlands (and not Hive Engine). I got 9 of these having bought 3300 ish.

I didn't get any. I'm not buying too many packs these days. Have to decide what's worth it for me.

I think right now it's better picking up cards you need to boost your deck from the market. At some point though I expect individual card prices to start to rise again and the remaining million or two packs will seem like better deals.

I'm winning a fair few cards. My deck is worth a fair bit anyway.

Damn. Sorry bud.

Life is my weakest, so I am not sure how I feel about him yet. Lol

You actually beat the odds. He’s guaranteed 1 for every 550. So you were locked in for 6 but beat the odds and snagged 3 extra. Congrats!

My strategy has always been to hand pick the cards I want off the market rather than buying packs. Not as exciting as opening packs and receiving airdrops, but it's what I do.

I've hoping the new CL Legendary Summoner for Fire will end up boosting Magic attack since I have many strong Magic cards for Red. I'll definitely be a buyer if that happens no matter the cost.

So far I have earned 7 CL packs from loot chests in the past month and a half since I began playing again. These are NOT eligible for airdrops as only ones purchased in the shop are eligible. I'm keeping these packs as investments rather than opening them. Though someday I may give in and open them using the hundreds of potions I've accumulated from daily quests.

It's actually a sound strategy. Think about this, someone chooses to rent cards first and figures out the strategies that work best for them and purchases the cards that work for their style of play. Purchasing packs leaves much up to chance and there are cards that are simply not what fits what a player uses best.

Not every card is "good" nor does every card possess an equal amount of present and future value.

There's a lot of pressure to purchase Chaos Legion packs and play in the Modern Format. I'm doing neither. It does not mean that there is a lack of faith in the development team or in the ecosystem, it is just that it is not my strategy.

I'm glad someone agrees with my strategy since I often feel like I'm the only one who is not into purchasing packs.

I also have not given into pressure to play in Modern. I believe there will be greater earning opportunity in Wild format. The Rewards pool will likely be larger and on top of that there will be less players. As most of the bots and new players will probably flock to Modern.

Playing Modern Format removes so many options for me. I really enjoy being able to play Alpha, Beta, and Promo cards. A lot of them fit into setups that I like to run and I have flexible counters.

However, there are a lot of people who think and preach that there is only one way to approach this ecosystem and in my previous post, I tried my best to say, "It's your crypto, your game, do as you see fit."

You are right, most are going to Modern. I'll happily play in Wild with my main account. With my alt and future alts, I'll do whatever is most cost-effective, they are just feeder account(s).

I never play Life, although some of the Life cards are actually awesome with Dragon summoners (Feral Spirit with Kitty or Daria for instance). So Grandmaster Rathe doesn't move the needle for me. It's just a new summoner to figure out how to counter.

Yeah, stacking your deck individually vs. buying packs is the better and more cost efficient way…but yeah…not as fun. Lol

I’m holding on to sone packs as well for “down the road”. I will open sone more though. Probably months from now when the other summoners are introduced.

Are you renting all of your assets currently? Or playing as well?
