This has been a really busy week in Splinterlands, especially with the End of Season happening at the beginning of the week. That on its own always contributes to a frenzy of activity. The end goal for everyone of course, is the promise and hope for some amazing rewards in the big pile of EOS Chests. 🤑 Would I finally get lucky? 🍀 We'll see later on 😜.

Splinterlands also released some big news about the transition from DEC rewards to SPS rewards 😱. This is a major change and will definitely impact everything we do in Splinterlands going forward. For the first time ever, rewards will no longer be in DEC, but SPS. In fact, DEC as a reward/drop will just about completely cease to exist. 😱😰💸 What can we/should we do about it? 🤔

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 37th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks my 37th weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

As I mentioned, this week marked yet another End of Season, and with that, a nice pile of reward chests again. Both my main and alt accounts finished in the Gold League again, although they both usually play in the Silver League throughout the season. I've found that the End of Season Gold reward chests are much better overall after having experimented for several seasons with both accounts.

My alt account ended up with 10 less Gold Chests than my main, which was no surprise, given that it plays at a much lower level. My main usually ends up playing in the Gold League itself after half a season has passed by.

The rewards from my alt account were a tad disappointing, although I did get a gold foil common and a nice amount of DEC 😁.

My main account however, struck the literal jackpot! 🤑 I FINALLY got my elusive first ever GOLD FOIL LEGENDARY Harklaw! 🥳 Not only that, I also got another (normal 😜) Legendary Countess Sinash, AND a CL pack, and also a nice amount of DEC. This is by far the BEST bunch of reward chests I have ever opened 😍.

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

🏆💰🎁Splinterlands News🏆💰🎁

As previously announced, the token given out for ranked battle rewards in the game (including both wins and season/focus loot chests) will be changing from DEC to staked SPS! 😱 Not only that, it is scheduled to be released NEXT WEEK on Tuesday 23rd August! That is quite a bit sooner than I had expected to be honest.

Here's some things to take note of.

• Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) token will no longer be paid out for ranked battle rewards or in loot chests.

• Users will be able to burn $1 worth of SPS tokens (based on the current prices) and mint 975 DEC tokens.

• SPS rewards will be directly staked to the player's account. That means they will not be liquid, and will need to be unstaked over a 4 week period in order to be transferred or sold.

All these are really interesting changes which have already resulted in huge price movements in the markets. As can be seen in the table below, the last few hours ever since these announcements has seen the price of DEC soar by > 30% 📈🤑. As expected by the team when implementing these changes, their aim of bringing DEC back to a 1000 DEC = $1 peg is starting to bear fruit.

On the flip side, I've probably suffered pretty bad impermanent losses from having all my DEC and SPS paired together in the DEC:SPS Liquidity Pool 😭. Here's to hoping both sides will stabilize soon and the rewards APR% turns in an overall profit for me eventually.

Overall, I do believe all these changes will bring about a net positive to the Splinterlands economy. In particular, having all the SPS rewards automatically staked will also help to incentivize money staying within the ecosystem itself. I'm really looking forward to seeing how these changes will play out 😜.

And now, for an update on the number of Chaos Legion packs sold thus far. About 110k sold since last week. That is an amazing sales figure! 😄

It looks like pack sales are definitely much higher than before when the SPS airdrop was still ongoing. Lots of players are probably buying these packs up with DEC earned from playing the game daily 🤑.

Here's the current count (as of the moment I'm writing this post) of the number of packs sold, and we're 307k away from the 10 million mark! Which also means everyone has a chance to get in now and grab more packs for the remaining airdrops! 😜

My fingers are crossed! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Hopefully I'll get some amazing luck for the next round! 🍀🍀🍀
