This week has seen one of the most major changes in Splinterlands ever since it's inception. DEC production has officially ground to a complete halt! 😱 After a few years of being the defacto ingame currency of the game, it has now completely ceased to drop from any rewards of any sort. SPS will now take it's place instead.

Personally I've more or less tried to prepare for this change which has been announced in the Splinterland Whitepaper ever since the SPS token was announced. However, reading about something and living through it is another matter completely. 🤣 So what do I think about it? I'll talk about it later on.

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 40th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks my 37th weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

No week goes by in Splinterlands without some news event happening though. And here's my pick of some of the most interesting ones in my opinion. 📰📰📰

As things go, this week was actually quite uneventful in Splinterlands personally. We're deep in the middle of the season, which means there isn't any huge fluctuations in rentals or battles in climbing the leagues.

However, the change in DEC availability has caused me to think somewhat about what I need to do once the liquid DEC that I keep in my accounts run out from rental expenditure. As the table below shows, the past 5 days of my daily rewards chest in Silver has only net me about 3.5 SPS in total. After having been used to DEC rewards in the hundreds or thousands (if fortune smiles on me 😜🤑🍀), seeing less than even a single digit amount of currency in chests does feel a little disconcerting to me.

Even after using the ingame conversion process of burning $1 of SPS for 975 DEC, this amount of SPS gives me only about 185 DEC at current prices. Using the HIVE engine market gives a slightly better conversion rate of about 250+ DEC. Either way, it still seems to be a pretty significant drop in the amount of DEC rewards. 😭

From my asking around, it seems like the higher up the leagues one goes, the SPS rewards get significantly better. If that's the case, it would seem that the Splinterlands devs intent of more heavily incentivizing progress into the upper levels is getting more pervasive now.

It's still too soon to definitively come to any conclusions yet though, seeing as the new system has only been out for less than a week. I shall continue observing and shall update my findings in future weekly diary entries.

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

Seems like the long awaited Splinterfest 2022 tickets are now for sale! 🎉

GA tickets ($300) and VIP tickets ($2000) can be purchased with SPS at the in-game shop at https://splinterlands.com/?p=shop

(pretty cool that the Splinterlands team is accepting SPS as a payment method. This is another good way to further strengthen the value of the token.

Of course, what is more interesting to me however, is that ANOTHER PROMO CARD will be released during this event. It is set to be extremely limited and pricey though. with the price set at $1000.

Holders of a Splinterfest ticket will be able to reserve a slot to purchase said promo card, with their cost price of the ticket being fully "refunded" with an equal amount of discount being made to the purchase of the card. So ticket holders will just pay $700 instead of $1000. 🤑

For those with deep pockets feeling extra rich , they can also go for the Gold Foil promo card costing an astounding $5000!!! 😱 Similarly, attendees who've purchased a VIP ticket costing $2000 can get a similar "refunded discount" on the Gold Foil promo card.

I'm really interested in what the card will be revealed to be and/or how powerful it is. Will it be meta-defining? Who knows? 🤣 Guess we'll find out in the weeks to come.

And now, for an update on the number of Chaos Legion packs sold thus far. About 58k sold since last week. That is an amazing sales figure! 😄

It looks like pack sales are definitely much higher than before when the SPS airdrop was still ongoing. Lots of players are probably buying these packs up with DEC earned from playing the game daily 🤑.

Here's the current count (as of the moment I'm writing this post) of the number of packs sold, and we're 249k away from the 10 million mark! Which also means everyone has a chance to get in now and grab more packs for the remaining airdrops! 😜

My fingers are crossed! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Hopefully I'll get some amazing luck for the next round! 🍀🍀🍀
