Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

It hasn't been much good news overall in the crypto world this past week. We've had Silvergate's stock price tanking and basically almost every exchange fleeing it in droves after they delayed their annual report. To make things worse, they suspended their crypto payments network soon after. This ended up cutting off one of the major ways everyone onramps into the crypto market. As expected, with such earth shattering news, the overall market now has dropped quite a bit. HIVE itself is no exception, at one point dropping to $0.40, though it has since recovered to slightly under $0.42. 😱📉💸

On the Splinterlands dev side of the game, this past week's End of Season will be affected by some changes in the rating resets after the end of season. There is also a sneak peek at the next batch of summoners in what I assume will be from the next major expansion Rebellion.

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 67th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. Of course, this also marks another weekly giveaway! 🎉🥳🎊

Well, we've had yet another End of Season come by this week. I had feared the worst after supposedly "using up" all my luck with those good drops I'd gotten that I talked about in last week's post (a gold foil legendary and the new airdrop summoner). Fortunately, it seems that Lady Luck hasn't completely abandoned me — yet. 🤣

I wouldn't say my rewards were spectacular, but a few gold foils on both accounts (including a dragon summoner) and a chaos legion pack is what I'd consider pretty good. So hooray! 🍀🎉

As it has been for several seasons now, both my main and alt accounts finished the season in the Gold League. Even if I spend most of the season in Silver, I find it the most cost effective to end it in Gold to take advantage of the improved EOS reward chests. 🎁

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

I have not managed to get any new Nightmare packs to replace all those I've sold. I will wait patiently to get them at the price I want. 🤑

This End of Season has seen a change to Ranked Battle & League Rating for the seasonal reset. To put it simply, we will all lose LESS rating with every EOS reset as compared to before. This will make the grind back up much easier. Those in lower leagues will also benefit from not being crushed by the higher leagues who have to make their way upwards too.

Overall, I feel that this is a really good QOL change that should improve the user experience. I'm sure we can all relate to the frustrations we feel after ever seasonal reset when we end up even lower than where we started off due to the disparity in power levels courtesy of those on the top having to climb their way up too. 😭

I was quite surprised to see this teaser regarding future summoners. I can't tell if it has been confirmed yet, but I would venture that we will see this eventually. As of now, these summoners have no names and unique art, but they seem to just be placeholders. Their names tell you everything you need to know though. With dual colour combinations/naming, it seems the next wave of summoners will be DUAL SPLINTERS. This seriously reminds me of Magic the Gathering's Dual lands. 😁

These were one of my first FULL COLLECTIONS I made when I was first introduced to MTG all those decades ago. Even till this day, I do regret having sold them off. Granted I made a nice return on investment from that sale, but I would on hindsight continue keeping them for collection purposes and nostalgic memories. I remember saving aside quite a fair bit of my pocket money every week before I eventually "caught them all"! 🤣💸

I do think the release of these dual splinter summoners will bring about even better gameplay variation in the game. This will definitely make the overall game even more interesting and complex. 👍

And now, for an update on the number of Chaos Legion packs sold thus far. About 229k sold since last week. That is an amazing sales figure! 😄

(Well, actually, the burning of CL packs has also started and this will add into the figures. So that means CL packs are soon going to be in really short quantity. Best to get it while you still can!)
