Splinterlands SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge - Centaur

The theme for this week's challenge is a creature found in many myths and legends that I'm sure many of us have read about - CENTAUR !

From Greek mythology, where we have Chiron - tutor to all the great Greek heroes, to Harry Potter, where we have the Centaurs who are ever present in the background. Half Man, Half Steed - Stories depict Centaurs as the embodiment of human skill and intelligence, with the raw power of a stallion, which make them a most fearsome opponent indeed.

The Centaur card in Splinterlands is not one which will always be in the starting deck of most players. However, he has the great advantage of being a NEUTRAL unit, so he can be easily plugged into any deck to fill out any roles needed.

I would say that the Centaur is completely AVERAGE, which is not a criticism per se. What I mean is that all his stats and even his splinter put him bang in the middle of the pack. 4 cost, 4 HP, 3 Speed, Neutral common unit - everything screams out "Completely average stats"! 😱

However, these average stats still make the Centaur a decent unit overall. He's basically a Jack of all Trades, but in some situations, I can forsee him becoming a Master of NOT none 🤣😉.

Under these rulesets, the "average" Centaur has suddenly turned into an absolute monster! His middling stats have suddenly put him at the top of the heap with SNIPE as an extra ability to boot! It's amazing what a slight tweak to the rulesets can do to what is otherwise an unremarkable card. 😱

Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used the Centaur. We both used the SAME splinter AND summoner, but my lineup was slightly different, which provided me with the edge to eventually get a victorious outcome! 🎉

As you can see, we both used Shieldbearer as our tank, Venari Crystalsmith as our healer, and Pelacor Arbalest as the DPS. The battle started out pretty evenly, BUT as it wore on, I eventually gained the upperhand. I can attribute that partially to my SNIPE units and their SPEED, of which the Centaur was one of them.

3 speed snipe units are comparatively faster than most, and I was able to quickly take down his support line after both our main tanks fell. This proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. 💪🏻

I definitely can appreciate the Centaur and it's strengths. This is one of those cards which will be easily passed on by most players, but its the small nuances in noticing what cards like this can bring to the battlefield which will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. 👍🏻
