The theme for this week's challenge - a mythical creature of myth and legend - Dragons!

cue Game of Thrones themesong... raging fires from dragon's breath 🔥

Ok 🤣 not quite that kind of Dragon, but the Dragon summoner class and their associated summons (which also includes their fair share of dragons of course).

Now, the Dragon splinter is probably my favourite among all the splinters. I find that they're the most flexible splinter, being able to employ cards from the Dragon splinter AND one other splinter. Think of this like an added advantage of CHOICE VS your opponent if he/she chooses only to pick cards from 1 normal splinter!

Now my favourite Dragon Summoner has got to be Delwyn Dragonscale. Especially in the Silver League which I play in, where Alric is so popular and strong because of the pure damage +1 Magic he gives. Delwyn is basically the supercharged version of Alric, giving the same boost to magic, with the added bonus of being able to pick cards from TWO!!! splinters. 😱

Let me present a Dragons themed battle I fought recently, in which both me and my opponent utilised cards from the dragon splinters. We both used different summoners and dragon cards though, but I'll highlight the advantages my favourite dragon cards had which eventually won me the match!

As you can see, we both used drastically different Dragon lineups. My Dragon summoner gave me a boost to Magic, whereas his gave him Flying. Where my opponent went for a melee focused Djinn Chwala with thorns, I went for the magic focused Black Dragon with life leech. This difference is what would prove to give me the edge and eventually winning the match!

If you noticed, the main reason for my choice of the Black Dragon was because of the ruleset - Noxious Fumes, which does 2 damage to all creatures at the end of every turn. The Black Dragon has the ability Life Leech which allows it to drain health equal to its damage. The battle might have started with both of us evenly matched, but as it wore on, the poison damage started taking it's toll and the constant self healing of the Black Dragon eventually allowed my team to outlast the opponent!

I definitely enjoy this combination of Dragons. Delwyn and the Black Dragon are a natural fit, offering superior firepower and endurance. Their main weakness would be the relatively high cost and the obvious vulnerability to anti magic setups. Even so, because of the 3 Magic damage in total, it is unlikely that a full anti-magic setup would neutralise them completely.
