A creature which is neither dead or alive. I wouldn't call it a zombie or a ghost. This being is more like a cursed creature, doomed to belong to neither the world of the living or the dead.

The theme of this week's Share Your Battle Challenge - I give you the LIFE SAPPER! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿ’€


Life sappers are in between life and death. One side of their body is ghostly while the other is alive and well. They are neither fully living nor dead. They feed off the energies around them, and simply being within view of a Life Sapper will make you feel sick and weak. They siphon energy from their victims, slowly weakening and sickening them while simultaneously healing themselves.

The Life sapper is a Rare card released during the Chaos Legion expansion. It has definitely found it's place in many Death decks given its availability and usefulness. At LEVEL 1, it has 1 โš”๏ธMAGIC ATTACKโš”๏ธ and 2 ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸปSPEED๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป, with 0 ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธARMOR๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ and 2 โค๏ธHEALTHโค๏ธ. It has the LIFE LEECH ability. It's summoning cost is also really low too at 3 ๐ŸงชMANA๐Ÿงช.

These stats alone make it seem like the Life Sapper is a really fragile unit. However, it's true power lies in it's LIFE LEECH ability. The longer the battle drags on, the tankier the Life Sapper will become until it eventually becomes a monstrosity of a tank ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป! This could make all the difference if the battle comes down to the wire where the slightest advantage is the fine line between victory or defeat! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The release of Chaos Legion has given the Death splinter yet another unit with LIFE LEECH in the form of the Life Sapper. However, despite that, it is the card with the LOWEST casting cost among all "Life Leechers" in the entire game (even compared to other splinters). This ensures that the Life Sapper will definitely have it's own place here in all Death decks. This is definitely what I'd consider game changing! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

As we can see here, the main purpose of the Life Sapper is to be a really cheap unit where you can slot in to fill up the team. Every level improves it's stats slightly all the way to level 10 where it also gets the REDEMPTION ability. It's damage even gets a slight boost making it deal some decent DPS too (considering that it also does Magic damage). This, combined with its stats and abilities really make this a most fearsome unit with a perfect mix of offense and defense. โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

N.A Melee and Ranged attacks will never miss
๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Gives itself more protection. Always good, especially for a unit whose purpose is to take hits.
๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป Loses all it's abilities.
๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Ranged units can't be used.
N.A. Ranged units can attack from the front.
๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป will be able to last longer than most cards with it's LIFE LEECH though.
๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป It has quite a very low HP pool, which means it will benefit instead.
๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Able to attack the weakest unit from anywhere.
๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป Even summoning cost
๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿป Unlikely to dodge any attack with it's low speed, thus the unit next to it will almost definitely take Blast damage.

โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ›กMy Battle Showcase๐Ÿ›กโš”๏ธ


Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used the Life Sapper. My opponent used the LIFE splinter while I went for the DRAGON splinter albeit with all DEATH splinter units (So I would consider it a death splinter actually ๐Ÿ˜œ). ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿป VS ๐Ÿ’€

At first glance, this would seem like a really even match. Both of us had summoners who were at equivalent levels. However, almost all my units were actually just level 1, as compared to the opponent who had almost all of his units maxed out for his summoner level.

  • His units were at an overall significantly higher level than mine. ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ต

  • We picked completely different units. Mine was magic based while the opponent's was physical based.

  • With every unit being just 4hp, it would be a DPS race.

Clearly, in terms of card rarity and card strength, I was at a distinct disadvantage ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿคฃ. Would I be able to turn the tide of battle against such an opponent then? Victory or defeat would lie in the small details.

I would say that the Life Sapper was DEFINITELY one of the MVPs of this match, having played it's role in turning the tide of battle. It did what it was supposed to do by "growing" itself with it's LIFE LEECH thus ensuring it could take a few more hits before going down. With the extra HP gained soaking up the opponent's DPS, I soon gained a significant advantage. This ensured that the other units could eventually wear down the opponent until victory was achieved! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†

1st CARD SLOT

The Corpse Fiend takes the role of the Main Tank in the first slot here. It will be the most important role since the backline will fall if the Main Tank goes. Because of the Equalizer ruleset, all units have the same amount of HP and the usually "cannon fodder" Fiends get to play the role of a tank as effectively as anyone else ๐Ÿคฃ.


2nd CARD SLOT

The Darkest Mage fills this slot. It's role is to deal damage from this position with it's Magic Attacks. Should the main tank fall, it will pick up the task of tanking.

3rd CARD SLOT

The Life Sapper takes this slot. It's role is to deal damage from this position, which also gives it some time to let it "grow" via it's LIFE LEECH to pick up the tanking task.


4th CARD SLOT

The Screaming Banshee occupies this slot. It's role is to deal damage whilst staying safe in this position. I consider it one of the main DPS-ers as it does more damage than most of the other units.


5th CARD SLOT

The Ancient Lich occupies this slot. It's role is to (yet again) deal damage whilst staying safe in this backline position. It is the MAIN DPS-er for my team, dealing the most damage amongst everyone else. Keeping it alive is very important.


6th CARD SLOT

The Venari Bonesmith occupies the last slot in the team. It's role is to deal damage from behind and also to protect the backline from any SNEAK attacks.

As you can see, both of us fielded very different decks from different splinters. I would say it's a polar opposite of opposing factions! Heaven and Hell, Light and Darkness... ๐Ÿ˜œ

๐Ÿ‘ผ๐ŸปLIFE๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿป VS ๐Ÿ’€ DEATH ๐Ÿ’€.

My opponent used Chaos Knight as his main tank in the 1st slot which is an AMAZING choice, given how suitable it is as a tank with the SHIELD ability. His Gargoya Scrapper was placed in the 2nd slot as the backup tank which was yet another good choice as it's VOID ability countered my Magic team. His Truthspeaker occupied the 3rd slot, which eventually proved to be a wasted choice as it's PROTECT ability did nothing against Magic attacks ๐Ÿ˜ˆ. His Xenith Archer, Pelacor Arbalest and Herbalist were the Ranged DPS that formed the rest of his team.

My choice of the Main Tank was the Corpse Fiend in the first slot whose purpose was just to take some hits for the team. It was followed by the Darkest Mage, Life Sapper, Screaming Banshee, Ancient Leech and Venari Bonesmith. As you can see, I basically fielded an ALL DPS team counting on overwhelming the opponent with damage in a DPS race to the finish.

The battle started out with all our units just duking it out pound for pound. It was a pretty low mana ruleset with just 24 mana as the limit. The ruleset for this game was EQUALIZER. Both of us managed to fill out our mana limits.

  • The first wave was a bloodbath! ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ๐Ÿฉธ

  • As expected from 2 teams with low healthpools focusing on DPS, both of us lost our first 2 units as round 1 ended. That's 4 casualties in 1 round ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

  • The 2nd round was pretty much almost the same as the first, with both sides losing 2 units each yet again. This was really going to be a DPS race to see who could kill the other faster.

  • However, I was already gaining a slight advantage here with the Life Sapper having "grown" itself to take 1 more hit than it should have. ๐Ÿ˜

  • The 3rd round started with me having a MASSIVE lead over my opponent. His ranged DPS was crippled since it could no longer attack from the front. Not only that, because of my Life Sapper draining more HP with it's LIFE LEECH and thus taking more hits, I now had a HP advantage over my opponent. This was especially obvious in an EQUALIZER ruleset game! โš–๏ธ

  • It was all over by now as I suffered no more casualties as I destroyed his hapless remaining 2 units.

Talk about doing WAY MORE than it was supposed to!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿฅณ All I expected was for the Life Sapper to absorb a few hits before eventually dying from all the damage it drew to itself. Yet it did more than that by giving me a SIGNIFICANT health advantage over the opponent in an EQUALIZER ruleset scenario. It even played it's part in the DPS race with a decent amount of damage dealt. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

The battle ended up being a convincing victory over my opponent after what seemed like a really even match in the first 2 rounds. Surely that made it the Man of the Match for this battle, punching way above it's weight! ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Well as you can see here in this GIF of my battle, the results were pretty good! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

This was truly an eye opener! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ†

Slowly, but surely, I wore down the opponent's team and the match was won handily! My team selection proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Would I have done anything differently? ๐Ÿค” This might have seemed like a match that would prove to be a challenge at the start because of the opponent's superior unit level advantage over me. However, with my convincing VICTORY as proof, IF I had to use the same cards again, there would be no better lineup than what I had already used for the match. Any other combination MIGHT have resulted in a loss for me. I'm really satisfied with the results against such a worthy opponent. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡
