Chaos Legion: Pack Analysis

We are inching closer to the end of the second presale for Splinterlands Chaos Legion cards. Things have really picked up a bit now that double the vouchers are getting dropped each day.

For the first presale I was only able to save up enough vouchers to buy 110 packs (100 bought, 10 bonus). In the second presale, I have been adding to my staked SPS, so I was already able to purchase and open another 220 packs.

With only four boosted airdrops left, I likely won't have enough vouchers to buy many more packs. I do have some credits saved up and I am hoping to buy another 100 or so packs once the general sale starts before they are all snatched up.

I used the Monster Market site to find the analytics on the packs I have opened so far.

As you can see in the photo above, out of the 332 packs that I have opened, I have been able to snag a total of 6 Gold Foil Legendaries. People with a sharp eye will notice my Chaos Dragon is upgraded to level 2, so it only shows as four cards in the photo.

Here are the numbers from the 110 packs that I opened this morning. I have found that opening them in groups of five is the most satisfying for me. I know it likely doesn't have much of an impact since it is all determined by a random number generator.

I don't think I could sit and open each pack individually. I know people who do and I applaud them for their patience. In fact, I know someone who has been opening 110 packs every four days or so and they open every single one of them one at a time...

Talk about the patience of Job!

As I was opening the packs today, I felt like I was seeing a ton of gold foil cards. The legendaries weren't flipping for me at first, but once they started it was like the floodgates were opened. I had one group of five packs that awarded me three legendaries.

Looking at the numbers, I ended up with 13 legendaries total in 110 packs today. I don't think that is bad at all.

It looks like I ended up with about 30 gold foil cards too. I would have guessed more than that, but who am I to doubt the numbers. It would have been nice to pull some gold foil epics, but maybe I will have better luck in the future. There is a good chance many out there think I am crazy for doubting my luck at all based on my pulls from today.

Looking at my full Chaos Legion deck, it is pretty exciting to see so many legendaries in one place. Sure, pretty much all of them are only level 1, but I need to be careful about being too greedy right?

It's also exciting to see so many gold foil cards in once place. These are all my Chaos Legion gold foils zoomed out so they would all fit on one page.

I think it is a little sad that the prices of CL cards haven't matched what we are seeing from the Beta packs in terms of value, but I think given time we will get there.

I know a lot of people are hurting a little from the hit their rental income has taken. I believe this is only temporary and there are some really exciting things in store that are going to increase the value of our decks even more.

Finally, I wanted to share the stats from opening all of my Chaos Legion packs. Again, this can be found on the Monster Market page under the tools menu. It is labeled pack opening analyzer or something like that.

As you can clearly see, I have pulled a total of 76 gold foil cards from my Chaos Legion packs. Additionally, I have pulled a total of 39 legendary cards from my 332 packs.

According to this, my displeasure at not pulling more gold foil epics was not completely unfounded. I've had a horrible %.06 when it comes to GF Epics.

Maybe that will turn around if I am able to open more packs.

I can honestly say one of the best things I did to prepare for this was to tuck away crypto I had made from other projects into credits. Stacking up on credits has allowed me to purchase packs and potions without cutting into my general fund.

It's a bit crazy to think that I have spent more than $700 USD in potions alone.

I didn't look at the numbers closely, but it is highly possible my cards aren't even worth the money I have put into them at this point in time.

I hope everyone else is having at least as good of luck as me when it comes to opening their packs. As what I would consider a mid tier investor in the game, It has been exciting watching my deck grow and increase in value.

From the play side, it has been a chore keeping up with all of the cards that are available to us now. Where I used to have plenty of time setting up my team for a battle, I now take things right down to the wire before I hit the submit button. Most of that time is spent just scrolling through my cards.

I think it would benefit all of us if the Splinterlands team added some additional sort options to the battle selection screen.

Nice breakdown, I have only opened about 70 packs and have been selling off my VOUCHER tokens to stake more SPS as I believe it will increase with land.

That is likely a smart move. I pull in a decent amount of SPS each day, so I don't mind using my vouchers to buy cards.

Yeah it's a balance right now. The price keeps sliding so I just keep adding.

I didn't have any better luck, I think everyone is down on having bought packs, better to buy off the General Market I think.

I'm going to buy a fair few more in GS but hold onto them I think. For the SPS points, and then sell further down the line!

I was thinking the other day that I am likely going to just hold some of my packs from my XCHAOS tokens and not open them. I haven't decided how many that will be yet.

I was going to hold some, now I'll probably just open the lot! I keep changing my mind.

In my opinion with the market price, it's better to hold packs than opening them. What splinter do u prefer most? I do like water and death. I leave u my url to a recent post I wrote in case u would like to give a helping hand! Take care! https://www.splintertalk.io/@beffeater/time-to-debuff-death-splinter and a Happy 2022

I think my two favorite ones are either Earth or Light. I really like a lot of the cards in both of those splinters. I don't play death too much. Only when I need to for a daily quest. :P
