Understanding the Splinterlands System

Hey Splinterlands enthusiasts,

I wish everyone a happy new year. May the year 2024 be filled with happiness and good health!

I am writing to clarify a common misconception about the Splinterlands system. Many players compare the Splinterlands leagues to those in other games, where beginners start at Bronze and progress linearly. However, this is not the case in Splinterlands. Each league is treated as a separate budget class, and the spending rhythm is the same in every league, only the price range is different. Someone who has a yearly budget of $100 plays in Bronze, while someone who has a yearly budget of $500 plays in Silver. This is financially logical because someone who has $100 per year does not have time to level up their cards, as a new edition appears as soon as they have built their deck for Bronze.

It is easy to recognize the different budget class in the game, as each league has its own leaderboard. If the leagues were arranged linearly from Bronze to Diamond, there would be no leaderboards in between. In Splinterlands, the ranking happens within each league. Bronze 3 is Bronze amateur, Diamond 3 is Diamond amateur. It has nothing to do with whether the Diamond player is better or worse than the Bronze player. They simply play in a different price range.

Therefore I ask Splinterlands to lift the mana caps urgently, which should not change from Bronze to Diamond. This is because a level 1 card has the same mana as a level 10 card. It does not make sense to limit the card selection for players in Bronze. This reduces the fun of the game, as it becomes monotonous when players constantly have only 20 mana battles. This results in a very monotonous meta and also harms the economy, as bronze players cannot use high mana cards.
These mana caps should ``if needed at all'' only be allowed to change within the leagues from level 3 to level 1.

In addition, the rule combinations should not increase from Bronze to Diamond, but only within each league. For example, Bronze 3 has the highest chance of one rule, Bronze 2 has the highest chance of two rules, and Bronze 1 has the highest chance of three rules.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely, Bronko

Bronk - I think you raise a very valid point.

The Splinterlands teams goal was to "encourage" the leveling of cards but the release of the yearly sets really limits ones ability to build a deck to a certain level and then womp womp - new set out = rotation...

I am beginning to think Modern should be three years worth going forward as Champ decks are INSANELY expensive to build - and then they rotate out 😞

Also - Happy New Year buddy!
