Peak-D-Fence

Hey folks,

Today I'd just like to share a battle that I just had and talk briefly about my strategy going into the battle. My aim is to help other new players like myself and give an example of what to take into account when setting up a team for battle.

Firstly I'd just like to give a shout-out to one of my favourite summoners & the card that made this strategy possible...'The Peakrider'! Here he is in all his glory!

Now that we know what summoner I used for this battle I think it's important to note this as the first part of my strategy, the rental. As I mentioned, I am a new player in this game and as such, don't own many summoners. I managed to rent Peakrider for around 7.4 DEC per day to coincide with my guild brawl. I illustrate this point as a way of showing that you can still implement a dominant strategy given the rulesets without owning or renting a hugely expensive summoner, such as Yodin, Llama or Kitty.

Onwards to Battle!

The ruleset for the battle was 'Lost Magic', meaning that no magic monsters could be used, and the mana cap was 46. The eligible splinters for the battle were Fire, Water, Life & Dragon.

These were the things I took into consideration:

As I am currently playing in Silver 3 I guessed that, like most players, my opponent would have a weak Dragon deck so I eliminated this from my thinking. Secondly, I quickly thought of the most meta plays I could think of for a mana cap of 46.

Fire - Tarsa, Living Lava + Blast archers + Serpentine Spy to finish monsters off.

Water - Kelya, Diemonshark + opportunity play with Deeplurker & Feating Seaweed.

Life - Sloan, Shieldbearer + lots of archers.

On this basis, I thought that my best play would be Peakrider. With this choice, I could hard counter a Sloan play as well as greatly reducing the damage done by a melee/opportunity play. What follows is how I found the balance between a hard defensive strategy, while keeping enough damage potential to win the match.

The supporting cast were: Shieldbearer, Truthspeaker, Disintegrator, Sand Worm, Pelecor Arbalest & Prismologist.

Please do consider commenting with your own ideas, as I'd love to engage with you guys & share your knowledge. Massive shoutout to my incredible guildmates in 'The Family Tree' & our all-powerful overlords 'The Alliance'. Check us out, we're a great group!

I appreciate your account of what's going through your head as you prepare for battle - Peak Rider sounds like an excellent choice for no magic battles!

No problem at all. I've only been playing since November so I'm still learning myself but I don't mind passing on tips as I've learned a lot from other people doing the same thing. Yeah, he's a great summoner and much cheaper to rent than a lot of others. Have you been playing for long?

I'm on my third season, so I've been playing for a few months now. Currently I'm in Bronze I, and it's a lot of fun, but not super rewarding in terms of winning quests and ranked battle (I've opened one too many chests holding 1 credit ;)). At this level, my opponents tend to fall into the same few team types, and I haven't encountered a Peak Rider yet; if I build enough CP eventually to get into Silver III, I assume I'll encounter more variety!

Ah ok. I'm one of the lucky ones as I have some friends that have been playing for a long time and have delegated me a lot of power so I usually finish at Silver 1 at the moment. I know how that is but I'd stick with it and just keep growing. Getting to silver 3 was really satisfying for me, as you can finally start to get in to the market and buy useful cards. Yeah, as you climb the strategies and cards used tend to vary a bit so you have to take a few whoopings and adapt. It's a fun journey though! Keep up the good work, be patient and you'll be rewarded for it.

Thats a great summoner well worth the high mana cost. I’d like to get my hands on one.

It seems to have shot up in price recently but it's still quite affordable to rent.
