# My Eighteenth Season - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 4 Report Card

It's hard to believe that I have been playing Splinterlands for 9 whole months now - I'm quickly approaching season 20! This season I ended up taking it relatively easy because I was on vacation for about half of it and didn't have time to play quite as much as I normally do. I actually did manage to use up most of my ECR, but I wasn't renting to supplement my collection effectively or playing as well as previous season on account of not having access to my computer for much of the season. With that said, the season wasn't horrible - just not as good as previous ones.

The developers made some changes to the rewards system partway into the season and made it so that focus splinters were no longer guaranteed, as well as allowing us to earn FP and SP for any win. This, coupled with the move to 2 day rentals, ended the meta of renting your max focus splinter each day - slightly more balanced decks are the way to go now! I greatly appreciated this change, as it allowed me to use my owned cards more often rather than having to figure out a new set of rentals every day.

I played my games in Modern this season and was satisfied with the results. While I was on vacation I was stuck in mid-silver for most of the time, but I was able to move up to Silver I as soon as I got back. Looking at this now, I also just realized that this was my first losing season in a while - yikes! I'm going to chalk that up the the rewards changes and playing on mobile while vacationing - hopefully this was a one time anomaly.

I had a couple of decent tournament showings this season and was actually able to win some SPS! This was a great improvement over previous seasons, and one that I hope to continue to have moving forward.

DEC earnings were down significantly this season, in large part due to playing at a lower league for some of the season. Rewards chest pulls this past season were okay. I was actually significantly under expected value for nearly the entire season, but a couple of lucky pack pulls in my end of season chests saved it for me.

Looking at this report now I'm not quite sure if it is correct - I feel like I spent more on rentals than is shown here, but I'm not completely sure whether I am remembering incorrectly or if there is a problem with the season report scraping. In any case, rental expenses were manageable last season (even if they may have been slightly higher than displayed here), and after taking my rental income from rental golem into account (not shown here) I am still making a bit of profit overall on rentals.

This was the last season with the SPS airdrop, and now the yearlong distribution phase is over. It was great while it lasted. I am still on the hunt for more SPS, especially with Riftwatchers around the corner, and it is now much more difficult to accumulate more SPS. Hopefully between LPs and the upcoming SPS rewards from brawls and ranked play I'll be able to pick up enough!

Overall this wasn't a bad season considering the circumstances. A couple of lucky chests at the close netted my some decent rewards and I can't complain at all considering I was effectively playing at half capacity for a lot of the season. Looking forward to the next one!
