Splinterlands Land Update and the DHF Proposal

I have to admit that I don’t really have the time to stay on top of developments (and politics) in the Splinterlands Ecosystem, nor for HIVE itself to be perfectly honest. I try to keep an ear to the ground though and have a few sources of information that I trust, but I can’t claim to be fully informed. To some extent I just have to rely on my gut instincts.

I took the plunge a while ago and invested in some Land for Splinterlands and have been slowly Dollar-Cost-Averaging while buying the Workers I need to get those lands into production. I’ve tried to be patient and scooped up bargains when I see them even as the ecosystem overall continues to decline. I’m finally at the point now where I will have my major landholdings fully producing. I have 10 plots in each of 2 regions so my plans for Building a Supply Chain in Splinterlands are on track...well, from my side of things at least.

It seems like there are a growing number of Red Flags on my Splinterlands investment, the latest of which is the Splinterlands DHF Proposal #315 which is basically Splinterlands asking the HIVE Fund to help them out with some funding. It has caused a bit of controversy with some saying that this is an instance of “Privatising profits and socialising losses” which is something I am fundamentally against. Yet I also see there is a valid argument for supporting a venture that adds value to HIVE...plus I am personally invested in both. So yeh...I am a bit conflicted about it.

I think that if Splinterlands left HIVE then it would be a disaster for BOTH and as an investor in BOTH I definitely don’t want to see that. So for now I am supporting the DHF Proposal. However, I am drawing a line under my investment in Splinterlands and HIVE. I have been patiently waiting for a recovery in both, but it just hasn’t been coming. Maybe I’ll just end up a stupid Bag Holder but I do acknowledge that sentiment is poor right now for these ecosystems and that can turn around. I believe that there is still some value in both Splinterlands and HIVE so I’m cautiously optimistic that value will eventually be realised...

It’s starting to look like the proposal wont get approved. I did vote for it, even though I don’t play it. Splinterlands is a net positive for Hive obviously. Some of the whales wanted a better layed out proposal, which is totally understandable. Also the drama involved definitely hurts too.

Yeh, I think it is fair for there to be a need for more detail in the proposal.

Maybe it'll get up the 2nd time around...

Maybe a better idea is for Hive/DHF to buy out Spinterlands, or at least be a majority stakeholder.

Yet it’s a for profit company , if it’s needing support now it’s always going to. If feels like blackmail to me. We get support or we might leave Hive. I’m a hard no

They brought a follow up post for the proposal....
A better explained post highlighting the needs for the money and the changes they are willing to make.

The comment section as always is diverse and colorful 😂

I do hope the proposal gets allowed, if hive has enough money to allow it.

There are too many large holders who have grievances toward SPL. The fact that in the good old days, they spurned the chain they were running on did not help. I voted for it, but I have a lot of money invested there too.

I was buying cards until the last big nerf was added. My compulsion has been dampened now.

Trump's come out quite pro BTC, so if that ends up reflected in the price, we could see some movement flow through to alts. It's been a long Winter though; no argument.

I think holding with Splinterlands is the best bet right now. I definitely wouldn't be acquiring more. There is too much uncertainty right now.

It is true that people have a lot of interest in this game, if they leave this platform, it will have a bad impact on the platform and people will lose trust.

I'm hoping Splinterlands pulls through, I have a lot of assets in there that have lost value. Hopefully we won't end up the stupid bag holders, I hope it makes it but that proposal is unlikely to pass as is now...

It’s a failing project. We need to stop pretending otherwise.

So tired of DHF being used to prop up catalyzed for profit biz’s. Unless we get to share in the profit periods why are we propping up a failing company. Hard disagree with much of what is funded with DHF personally! !PIMP
