Last week of January summary: Plot production, Brawls, and Gladius case openings [Eng/Esp]
Hey Splinterlands friends! We're in the final stretch of January and less than two days away from the season's end, and February is coming in strong with a seasonal event tied to Valentine's Day. Not only will we have a themed battle arena, but also special card skins. I should point out that these new skins are now easier to acquire using Decs, which I think is a great alternative since I spent practically all my glints on Christmas skins in December, and before that, on Thanksgiving and Halloween skins. This has left me with almost no glints left to buy cards, and it's a task I need to complete if I want to secure my place in the Gold League. The link to the announcement post is in the image below.

Ya estamos en la recta final de enero y a menos de 2 días del final de temporada, y este febrero viene con fuerza pues tendremos el evento de temporada asociado con el día del amor y la amistad. No solo tendremos una arena de combate temática, sino también skins especiales para cartas. Aquí debo destacar que para estas nuevas apariencias se han dispuestos más facilidades para su adquisición mediante Decs, esto me parece una excelente alternativa ya que en diciembre gaste prácticamente todos mis glints en las skins navideñas y antes en las del día de acción de gracias y halloween. Esto me ha dejado casi sin glints suficientes para comprar cartas y es una tarea que tengo pendiente si quiero afianzarme en la liga de oro. Let's start with our production on our plots. We've been accumulating stone mainly since the end of December. However, this process requires large quantities of grain, so I decided to buy a grain plot in the Great Lowlands. Although it's common, with the right workers, it can generate enough to feed my stone-producing plots. My current grain production places me at number 668. I've tried to acquire another grain plot, but they're getting more expensive, so for now, all we can do is wait for a good offer.
Comencemos entonces por nuestra producción en nuestras parcelas, venimos acumulando piedra principalmente desde finales de diciembre, sin embargo este proceso implica grandes cantidades de grano, por eso preferí comprar una parcela de grano en Great Lowlands y aunque es común, con los trabajadores adecuados puede generar lo suficiente para alimentar mis parcelas que producen piedra. Mi producción de grano actual me ubica en el ranking 668, he intentado conseguir otra parcela de grano pero ya se están encareciendo, así que por ahora solo noes queda esperar alguna buena oferta.
Now let's look at our stone production. In the rankings, we're in position 243 with two plots or quarries producing with good cards at maximum capacity. Both are in the Great Lowlands and are deserts, but one is a rare plot with regular leaf workers, while in the epic plot, my workers are epic gold leaf cards. The production is significant, placing me in the top 250 of the rankings. My latest acquisition was precisely that rare plot of land, and buying the workers, the power core, and the Decs to activate the land has left me without the budget to buy more quarries.
Veamos ahora nuestra producción de piedra, en el ranking nos ubicamos en la posición 243 con 2 parcelas o canteras produciendo con buenas cartas al máximo. Ambas se encuentras en Great Lowlands y son desiertos, pero una de ellas es rara con trabajadores de lámina regular, mientras que en la parcela épica mis trabajadores son cartas épicas de lámina dorada. La producción es significativa por lo que me ubica en los 250 primeros del renking. Justamente mi última adquisición fue esa parcela rara y comprar los trabajadores, el power core y los Decs para activar la tierra me ha dejado sin presupuesto para comprar más canteras.
Acumulamos un total de 195K unidades de piedra, me gustaría aumentar todavía más esa producción pero el proceso es ciertamente lento y costoso. Es el recurso que me ha generado mejores ingresos empezando el 2025 y de hecho si echamos un vistazo al mercado hay una enorme cantidad de parcelas de piedra en el mercado y de todas las rarezas, los mejores precios están en las canteras, es una excelente oportunidad para especializarse en este recurso, considerando el precio de los trabajadores y demás recursos, lo más conveniente sería comprar las parcelas y desarrollarlas gradualmente, mediante una inversión a largo plazo.
We've accumulated a total of 195,000 stone units. I'd like to increase that production even further, but the process is certainly slow and expensive. It's the resource that has generated the best income for me since 2025, and in fact, if you look at the market, there are a huge number of stone plots available, of all rarities. The best prices are for quarries, making it an excellent opportunity to specialize in this resource. Considering the price of workers and other resources, the most convenient approach would be to buy the plots and develop them gradually through a long-term investment.

Balance Brawls
This week we also finished the last brawl of January, and we did quite well. We came in second place, and this time the number of SPs and merits was higher than last time, so we can open a few Gladius packs and try our luck with a legendary or epic Gladiator.
Esta semana también terminamos la última brawl del mes de enero y nos fue bastante bien, quedamos de segundos y esta ves la cantidad de sps y méritos fue mayor que la vez anterior, así que podremos abrir unos cuantos packs Gladius y probar suerte con alguna Gladiadora legendaria o épica.

Our most notable battle was with the Gladiator card Xulax Nightwind. If the rule for this battle had forced me to use the Death Splinter, I don't think I would have been forced to use it, but since I had upgraded it to level 2 quite some time ago, I had never had the chance to try it out, and this was its baptism of fire. Taking advantage of the fact that all units amplify the damage of Thorns or Magic Reflect, I decided to use Xulax for its Void Armor ability to block magic attacks and the Thorns ability to punish the enemy's melee attacks. Furthermore, if it was eliminated in the process, it could be revived by the Archon Astral Entity. I covered my back by using a unit with the Shtter ability to obliterate any defenses in the enemy lineup.
Nuestra batalla más destacada fue con la carta gladiadora Xulax Nightwind, si fuera porque la regla de esta batalla me obligaba a usar el splinter de muerte creo que no me habría visto obligado a usarlo, pero como lo había upgradeado a nivel 2 hace un buen tiempo nunca había tenido la oportunidad de probarlo y este fue su bautizo de fuego. Aprovechando que todas las unidades amplifican el daño de Thorns o magic reflect decidí usar a Xulax por su habilidad void armor para bloquear los ataques mágicos y la habilidad thorns y castigar los ataques melé del enemigo. Además si era eliminado en el proceso, podía ser revivido por el arconte Astral Entity, cubrí mis espaldas usando una unidad con la habilidad shtter para obliterar cualquier defensa en la alineación enemiga.

We've already reached over 450K in merits; soon we'll be able to make a second massive purchase of Gladius cases, including the Power Stones, to increase our chances of getting legendary cards. But for now I'll just buy 4 packs and keep accumulating common, rare, and if we're lucky, some legendary/epic cards.
Ya alcanzamos más de 450K en méritos, pronto podremos hacer una segunda compra masiva de Gladius cases incluyendo las power stones para aumentar las posibilidades de cartas legendarias. Pero por ahora solo comprare 4 packs y seguir acumulando cartas comunes, raras y si tenemos suerte alguna legendaria/épica.

These four packs were a great investment—two epic gladiators! The first one allowed us to level up Marisol Contuma to level 4. With this card, we now have almost all our cards at level 4, except for Gorth, who, to be honest, I hardly ever use when I have to battle the fire splinter.
Estos 4 packs fueron una gran inversión, 2 gladiadoras épicas! La primera nos permitió llevar a Marisol Contuma a nivel 4, con esta carta ya tenemos casi todas nuestras cartas en nivel 4 a excepción de Gorth que bueno, siendo sinceros casi no lo uso cuando tengo que batallar con el splinter de fuego.
Finally, we have Trapp Falloway, the epic death card, and I must say my progress with this card has been impressive! It was in mid-October that I upgraded this card to level 4, and now I'm practically one copy away from it being my first epic card at the top of the gold league! This card is fantastic in battles with Little League, and if it's also paired with Ruleset Maneuvers or Equal Opportunity, it's deadly! It only needs the Pierce ability to be a threat on par with Isgald or Katrelba Gobson.
Por último tenemos a Trapp Falloway, la carta épica de muerte y debo decir que ha sido impresionante mi avance con esta carta! Fue a mediados de octubre que upgradie esta carta a nivel 4 y ahora estoy a prácticamente 1 copia de que sea mi primera carta épica al tope de la liga de oro! Esta carta es estupenda en batallas con little league y si además esta acompañada de la ruleset maneuvers o equal opportunity es mortal! Solo le habría hecho falta la habilidad pierce para ser una amenaza al nivel de Isgald o Katrelba Gobson.
Well, friends, with this, we close our January review, the first month accumulating resources, SPS, and Gladiator cards. There are still things I need to improve, and one of them is my SPS production through staking at the end of each season. I thought that by playing dedicatedly in Modern I would be able to accumulate a good amount, but I see that I'm doing much better in Wild. Therefore, I'll be playing Modern for the next few months before preparing my return to Wild, taking advantage of the fact that Dec is extremely cheap and I suspect it will remain so for the rest of 2027. Bien amigos, con esto cerramos nuestro balance de Enero, primer mes acumulando recursos, sps y Cartas Gladiadoras. Aún hay cosas que necesito mejorar y una de ellas es mi producción de sps en staking cada final de temporada, pensé que jugando dedicadamente en modern lograría acumular una buena cantidad pero veo que me va mucho mejor en Wild. Por esto jugaré los próximos meses en modern antes de preparar mi regreso a wild aprovechando que el Dec esta extremadamente barato y sospecho que seguirá así lo que resta de este 2027, el invierno para los proyectos nft seguirá siendo largo y crudo así que lo mejor por ahora es acumular.
