Greetings Splinterlands and Hivers community! Welcome to my contribution to the Social media challenge where we share points of view, strategies, acquisitions and future perspectives of this great project that is Splinterlands. And for this occasion I wanted to share with you my impression of one of the skills that offer a great advantage on the battlefield: the Rust skill.

Y para esta ocasión he querido compartir con ustedes mi impresión de una de las habilidades que ofrecen una gran ventaja en el campo de batalla: la habilidad Rust.
Introduction/Introducción
How many times have we lost a battle to summoners like Kelya or Lux? Its speed modifier but particularly its defense seem to be a breaking point that in the end always tilts the result of a battle in its favor, the same happens with cards that have the protect ability that increase the defense of the entire group by +2. The question is: Is there a way to counter this strategy? The answer is a very useful skill and that Rust:

A diferencia de las ediciones pasadas, estos invocadores te otorgan un nivel extra de personalización en tu estrategia, es decir son invocadores que te permiten escoger entre 2 habilidades posibles y además asignárselo a la carta de tu elección una vez hayas armado tu alineación.
Unlike previous editions, these summoners give you an extra level of customization in your strategy, that is, they are summoners that allow you to choose between 2 possible abilities and also assign them to the card of your choice once you have assembled your lineup.
Cards with Rust ability/Cartas con la habilidad Rust
Existen varias cartas con la habilidad Rust pero recientemente acabo de adquirir una que tiene un gran valor estratégico para mi: Clockwork aide. Esta carta épica soulbound me tomo más de un año para finalmente tenerla en nivel 4 que donde finalmente aprende esta habilidad que se suma a swiftness que aumenta la velocidad de todo el equipo en +1.
There are several cards with the Rust ability but I recently acquired one that has great strategic value for me: Clockwork aide. This epic soulbound card took me over a year to finally get to level 4 where it finally learns this ability which adds swiftness which increases the speed of the entire team by +1.
In this context we are going to evaluate the potential of the Rust ability on this exceptional soulbound card in 2 battles with a different approach. Let's get started!

Our first battle has a mana limit of 38 which seems quite wide but we are limited in the cards we can use due to the little league and close range ruleset. Our opponent used Queen micelia to reinforce his defense but we have canceled it with our Clockwork aide in addition to giving us the initiative, but before seeing the combat let's see why we chose this alignment.
Nuestra primera batalla tiene como limite de mana de 38 que parece bastante amplio pero estamos limitados en las cartas que podemos usar por la ruleset little league y close range. Nuestro oponente utilizo Queen micelia para reforzar su defensa pero la hemos anulado con nuestro Clockwork aide además de darnos la iniciativa, pero antes de ver el combate veamos porque escogimos esta alineación.

🧙 Summoner/ Invocador: General Sloan
Our first battle has a mana limit of 38 which seems quite wide but we are limited in the cards we can use due to the little league and close range ruleset. 🎴 Tanque/Tank: Pelacor Conjurer
Our first unit is a very exceptional mini-tank: Pelacor conjurer, this card is truly unique because although it does not make any attacks, it has high speed in addition to being able to fly, having magic reflect and divine shield, that is, it has everything necessary to repel magical attacks. , withstand melee and range damage.

🎴 Thunderbird
This will be our first offensive card, it is one of the ones I use the most not only because of its high damage and low mana but also because of its stun ability that will allow us to nullify the tank's attacks if we are lucky.
Esta si será nuestra primera carta ofesiva, es una de las que más uso no solo por su gran daño y bajo mana sino también por su habilidad stun nos permitirá anular los ataques del tanque si tenemos suerte.
🎴 Time Mage
This card with magic attack has the slow ability by default, but at level 5 it acquires the rust ability, however the biggest difficulty I have with this card is how difficult it is to keep it alive due to its low life and always ends up being a victim of cards with magic reflect. , opportunity or sniper, so we will use it to have the initiative in combat and be the first to attack.
Esta carta con ataque mágico tiene la habilidad slow por defecto pero en nivel 5 adquiere la habilidad rust, sin embargo la mayor dificultad que tengo con esta carta es lo difícil que es mantenerla con vida por su baja vida siempre termina siendo victima de cartas con magic reflect, opportunity o sniper, así que la utilizaremos para tener la iniciativa en el combate y ser los primeros en atacar.
🎴 Peacebringer
An excellent card for battles with the little league rule, it has a good amount of damage, speed and life, even if our opponent used a summoner like Quix, this card would still have significant damage, we will place it in fourth position.
Una excelente carta para batallas con la regla little league, tiene una buena cantidad de daño, velocidad y vida incluso si nuestro oponente usara un invocador como Quix esta carta seguiría teniendo un daño importante, la ubicaremos en la cuarta posición.
🎴 Venari Crystalsmith
Although I feel that this card falls short of damage, we place it in this lineup due to its tank heal ability and thus support our minitank at the forefront.
Aunque siento que esta carta se queda corta de daño la ubicamos en esta alineación por su habilidad tank heal y así apoyamos a nuestro minitanque en la vanguardia.
🎴 Clockwork Aide
Finally, we will place Clockwork Aide in the last position, we will nullify the defenses with his rust ability and we will also gain an extra point of speed, thus ensuring that we will strike the first blow.
Por último ubicaremos en la última posición a Clockwork aide anularemos las defensas con su habilidad rust y además ganaremos un punto extra de velocidad, nos aseguramos así que daremos el primer golpe.
⚔️ Battle/Batalla
⚡ Round 1
The first round begins and our first casualty is the Failed summoner, another mini-tank with the magic reflect ability. Fortunately, we correctly hit ranged attack units. Later, we eliminated the Fungus flinger and although the Djing increased its statistics, our Pelacor conjurer was able to survive the second round.
Comienza el primer round y nuestra primera baja es el Failed summoner otro minitanque con la habilidad magic reflect afortunadamente acertamos corecctamente con unidades de ataque rango, posteriormente eliminamos al Fungus flinger y aunque el Djing incremento sus estadísticas nuestro Pelacor conjurer pudo sobrevivir al segundo round.
⚡ Round 2 & 3
In the second round we managed to eliminate the Djinn, Queen Micelia and the Magus madcap, leaving our opponent alone with the Venari spellsmith that is finally dispatched by Time mage, thus achieving a fairly quick and effective victory.
En el segundo round logramos eliminar al Djinn, Queen micelia y al Magus madcap dejando a nuestro oponente solo con el Venari spellsmith que es finalmente despachado por Time mage logramos así una victoria bastante rápida y efectiva.

The next battle is a confrontation of lineups with sneak cards where our opponent chose to reinforce his lineup with Ferox defend but we opted for a more offensive strategy: nullify the Ferox defend defenses and be the first to attack using the card again. Clockwork aide.
La siguiente batalla es un enfrentamiento de alineaciones con cartas sneak en donde nuestro contrincante optó por reforzar su alineación con Ferox defender pero nosotros optamos por una estrategia más ofensiva: anular las defensas del Ferox defender y ser los primeros en atacar utilizando para ello nuevamente la carta Clockwork aide.

🎴 Summoner/ Invocador: Helios Matriarch
The cornerstone of our strategy revolves around the use of a particular gladius card and to be able to have it on the battlefield we need the use of the new soulbound summoners, for this battle our best option is to use Helios matriarch for its modifier that accelerates our attacks at +1 because we do nothing if when exposing the enemy defenses our units are not the first to attack, for this reason our best option is this summoner.
La piedra angular de nuestra estrategia gira entorno al uso de una carta gladius particular y para poder tenerla en el campo de batalla necesitamos el uso de los nuevos invocadores soulbound, para esta batalla nuestra mejor opción es usar Helios matriarch por su modificador que acelera nuestros ataques en +1 porque no hacemos nada si al exponer las defensas enemigas nuestras unidades no son las primeras en atacar por esta razón nuestra mejor opción es este invocador.
🎴 Failed Summoner
We will combine the dragon splinter with the ground splinter and our tank will be failed summoner, this minitank is very useful for this particular battle, not only because of the large amount of life it has but also because of its demoralize ability that subtracts -1 the damage of all melee units.
Combinaremos el splinter dragón con el de tierra y nuestro tanque será failed summoner, este minitanque es muy útil para esta batalla en particular, no solo por la gran cantidad de vida que tiene sino también por su habilidad demoralize que resta en -1 el daño de todas las unidades melee.
🎴 Clockwork Aide
I placed clockwork aide in this position because I suspected that my opponent would use cards with the opportunity ability but his main function will be to expose the enemy defenses with the rust ability and increase the speed of our units by +1.
Ubique a clockwork aide en esta posición porque sospechaba que mi oponente utilizaría cartas con la habilidad opportunity pero su función principal será exponer las defensas enemigas con la habilidad rust y aumentar la velocidad de nuestras unidades en +1.
🎴 Brownie
With Brownie we will reinforce the damage of our units by +1 as well as the speed. With this card we have a +2 damage buff and also +2 speed buff.
Con brownie reforzaremos el daño de nuestras unidades en +1 al igual que la velocidad con esta carta tenemos un buff de daño de +2 e igualmente de +2 en la velocidad.
🎴 Dhampir Infiltrator
Dhampir infiltrator is our first offensive card, this is a card with sneak that hits the rearguard twice. In order for it to be effective, we need to buff damage and speed in our lineup.
Dhampir infiltrator es nuestra primera carta ofensiva, esta es una carta con sneak que golpea 2 veces la retaguardia para que pueda ser efectiva es que necesitamos buffear daño y velocidad en nuestra alineación.
🎴 Katrelba Gobson
This is the gladius I was referring to previously, this card is literally an artifact of controlled demolition in the enemy lines, I currently have it at level 5 enough to defend us in the gold league, its double strike ability is super effective and snare us allows any aerial unit to be brought to ground if there is one.
Esta es la gladius a la que hacía referencia anteriormente, esta carta es literalmente un artefacto de demolición controlada en las líneas enemigas, actualmente la tengo en nivel 5 suficiente para defendernos en la liga de oro, su habilidad double strike es super efectiva y snare nos permite bajar a tierra alguna unidad aérea si es que la hay.
🎴 Goblin Thief
Finally, Goblin Thief will close our lineup in the rear, his speed ensures that he will be the first card to attack, his shatter ability allows him to eliminate any defense regardless of its magnitude.
Por último Goblin thief cerrara nuestra alineación en la retaguardia su velocidad nos asegura que será la primera carta en atacar, su habilidad shatter le permite eliminar cualquier defensa sin importar la magnitud que tenga.
⚔️ Batalla/Battle
🔥 Round 1
Before starting the first round we received Gobolano's ambush but it was not enough to do us significant damage. At the beginning of the battle our cards Dhapir and Katrelba have managed to dispatch 3 of the 6 units that our opponent aligned: Tenjii, Dhampir and Gobolano They were unceremoniously eliminated.
Antes de comenzar el primer round recibimos la emboscada de Gobolano pero insifuciente para hacernos un daño importante, al comenzar la batalla nuestras cartas Dhapir y Katrelba se las han arreglado para despachar a 3 de las 6 unidades que alineo nuestro oponente: Tenjii, Dhampir y Gobolano fueron eliminados sin miramientos.
🔥 Rounds 2 & 3
In the second round, although we lost the Goblin thief in the previous round, it is already too late for our opponent because Katrelba has already increased her statistics thanks to the bloodlust and will be the first to attack, taking the 2 remaining units of the secondary row in the second round and leaving Ferox defended himself as Katrelba's last victim for the third round, thus obtaining a clear victory.
En el segundo round aunque perdimos al Goblin thief en el round anterior ya es tarde para nuestro oponente porque Katrelba ya ha incrementado sus estadísticas gracias al bloodlust y será la primera en atacar llevándose en el segundo round las 2 unidades restantes de la fila secundaria y dejando al Ferox defender como última victima de Katrelba para el tercer round, obteniendo así una clara victoria.
🎇Conclusiones
Rust is a very useful ability when you plan to attack with melee units primarily and secondarily with ranged cards. The offensive units that I like to use the most are those that have the sneak or opportunity ability.
Of the cards that I currently have with the rust ability, the ones that I use the most are Clockwork Aide not only because of the support it provides but because it acts as a good decoy against cards with sneak and opportunity while the second one that I use the most is Noa the Just when I play with the water class particularly in odd mana games.
Rust es una habilidad bastante útil cuando piensas atacar con unidades melé principalmente y de forma secundaria con cartas rango. Las unidades ofensivas que más me gusta usar son aquellas que tienen la habilidad sneak u opportunity.
De las cartas que actualmente tengo con la habilidad rust las que más utilizo son Clockwork aide no solo por el soporte que da sino porque actúa como un buen señuelo contra cartas con sneak y opportunity mientras que la segunda que más uso es Noa the Just cuando juego con la clase agua particularmente en partidas de mana impares.
