Splinterlands hinted today that they plan to take private sales for Chaos packs prior to the general sale. Will this prevent the general player base from having access to any packs?

I said it in your YouTube section, but I want to reiterate it here.

"This won't be the death of the game, Bulldog. But the latest decisions including this one will retrospectively be the "applied poison" and slowly but surely taking 2 health points away, meaning, new players won't stay and it will return to a narrow active player base. This can't be good in the longterm and these are shortsighted, greed-driven decisions in a macro-bubble, which ruin projects. I've seen this many, many times and it seems, this is the path, splinterlands devs intend to walk down.

A couple of friends of mine made accounts after I shilled it to them. They loved it initially. No one stuck to it. 1k $ to be competitive in Bronze I or Silver III? lol. Average Joe out."

I know, I know, if we quit now, devs will laugh in our faces a year from now. Heard it a couple of times in the discord's AMA.
This kind of behaviour is juvenile and aggressive as well as demeaning and unnecessary. This attitude will get a few laughs from veteran players who have made their piles and egg this behaviour on, but it will repel many new players and up-and-coming players, who want to invest, but are let down again and again.

I'm more and more inclined to sell my investment in this game and look for another opportunity.
It's a pity, because the gameplay and the system behind is absolutely great and addictive.

If that happens, I'll be highly disappointed. I'm just three months into the game, and I was looking forward to the public sale. Although, I have some fear that the packs in public sale will be gone in a record time, and if I can't time it (sleep, etc.) I'll miss out on them.

Regarding vouchers, I do agree that they are great. Those who have invested more overtime should have a priority in the first sales. But a private sale after phase two (with discounts) would be a big finger in the face for many players that eagerly waited for that sale. It's a big difference - 4$ or probably way more than x2 after all the packs are gone.

Sure, deck building is better when one picks cards that he really wants. But there could also be some lucky pulls from packs that would catapult a new player forward way faster. A couple of good summoner pulls from packs would be way less than buying them off the general card market where just one card will come with a cost of xx packs. Plus, on top of that, the player would get cards from a wide variety of splinters.

New chapters don't come that often and even small-time investors should be able to enjoy them. A simple solution that would make happy a huge percent of small-time players - a day or two (after phase two) where every account is limited to e.g. 100 or fewer packs a day. And after that, it's the battle royale for everyone with no restrictions for the remaining packs.

I know that big players and whales probably will disagree. As there would be less profit for them (reselling packs or cards). But I do think that everyone should be able to enjoy this new chapter to some extent. As being in different parts of the world will make many players miss out on the moment when the limitations are lifted.

I guess it all depends on how many bulk orders they get, or if there are plans to put a cap on this total. Surely they'll not let them all go in private sales.

Some huge orders sounds like great publicity for the game, but there should be millions left over so that everyone who wants to buy can do so.

Even if they cap it, the guilds are taking more of the airdrops by purchasing sooner.

If they want this they should hold the private sale a few days after the general sale. If it sells out then oh well. If it doesn't, then go broker deals with the guilds.

If it comes to that, I can throw in some coins.
