Greetings Splinterlands and Hive community!

Since last week's Dragons theme for the share your battles weekly challenge, I've been testing a couple of cards and combinations with the Dragons and Life monsters and so far I'm really liking the composition.
Despite battle rewards being so low in Bronze and slightly better on silver, it was really fun testing a new monster that I'll be talking about in a few moments.

Black Dragon

Lore

The Black Dragon of Mortis is the only Dragon that has ever been convinced to sign the Dark Contract. His name is Korjack. Korjack is greater in size by far than all other living Dragons, and he could rule them all if he had the ambition. Instead, he focuses on his own progress toward the Dark Eternity.

Black Dragon is one of the oldest Legendary Reward cards from the Dragon Element. We'll be talking about his aspects at level 1:

• A Magic Damage dealer: 2
• Low Health (3) and Low Speed (2)
  His abilities is what makes it unique:
• Flying: covers up for his vulnerability
  • an increased 25% chance of evading (non flying) enemy melee and ranged attacks
  • A key ability in Earthquake ruleset
• Life Leech : Giving up on everything to achieve Dark Eternity: this ability makes Black Dragon a good pick in general and an oppressive choice in certain rulesets

Monster's health increases each time it damages an enemy Monster's health in proportion to the damage dealt (half the damage)

Delwyn Dragonscale

We can't talk about monsters without their summoner and that's right; we need a Magic buff that is provided by no other than Delwyn Dragonscale.
A 5 Mana Card; The ONLY common rarity Summoner, so leveling it up requires way more cards compared to other summoners.
In order to take the most out of Black Dragon, primarily the Life Leech ability, a +1 Magic Buff is needed:

• 2 Magic Damage => 1 Health gain by Life Leech
• 3 Magic Damage => 2 Health gain by life leech

Black Dragon position is crucial as it should be carefully placed far from the first position and away from Sneak and Snipe attacks.

Favourite Rulesets

Certainly Black Dragon + Delwyn is powerful but it surely shines in certain rulesets:

	Ruleset	Action
	Explosive weaponry	Damaging a monster triggers a Life Leech, so how about damaging 3 monsters with Blast : That's a LOT of Life Leech!
	Equalizer	You got one weakness, and now it's gone... Imagine Black Dragon with 10 Health and keeps growing with Life Leech. Moreover, battles tends to take longer so more procs for his ability.

Some Battles

1st battle: Explosive Weaponary + Equal Opportunity

One of the coolest battles I've had, knowing that Black Dragon starts with low Health and will be the first target in opportunity ruleset, I had to protect it by using TAUNT from Mycelic SlipSpawn.
For the rest of the team: Djinn Chwala is my usual main Tank, Carnage Titan in the Reach position for it's heavy damage followed by the mighty Black Dragon and Oshuur Constantia to Revive my Taunt monster and keep my damage dealers safe!

Here's how Life Leech works with a Triple Damage Blast:

My Black Dragon who started with 3 Health, ended up with a triple of its value a 9 Health and closing the battle with a dominating Victory!

2nd battle: Equalizer + Healed Out

The second favourite Ruleset, Black Dragon can't be happier to start the battle with 10 Health and while I'm at a high Mana battle, I did bring Shieldbearer for the TAUNT in the Tank position, followed by Djinn Renova for the magic damage and Strengthen, again the mighty Black Dragon and Oshuur for the Revive to keep Shieldbearer alive as long as possible.
PS: Forgot about the Healed Out ruleset and did bring Venari Cristalsmith to the mix >.<

Total Health at the end of the battle: 17 Health

Black Dragon can win you lot's of battles if played correctly especially in the couple of rules mentionned earlier!
