Rented Cards - Way to Battle Competitively

Season Goal

Last season is my second season in Splinterlands. Unlike in the first season where I tried to climbed up to the Silver League and for which I was able to reached Silver II, in this season I choose to stay within the bronze league to try to compete in the bronze leaderboard. Unfortunately though, I only manage to reacheed up to top 242. Way too far from the prized ranking, but I am happy enough with this personal achievement.

Base Cards

As a newbie I was provided of the available base cards to be able to play the game. These cards are playable for everyone but are not own by the players. Newbie like me should be really thankful for these cards. These cards are really helpful for newbie be able to explore and experience the game play totally free. Not to mention that many from those base cards are actually good cards.

Renting Cards

As I progress, I got to experience battling against experience players with decent deck in their collections. From that point I was wondering how am I suppose to beat those guys if I don't have those expensive cards in my collection. Until I learn the power of renting cards. Renting cards is really cheap. You can even rent powerful cards to the range of 0.14 - 3 DEC. In total expense of 10-20 DEC you can already form your competitive line up. And if you really want to climb up the leaderboard you may raise your budget to about 500 - 800 DEC and rent level 1 legendary summoner or level 2 rare or epic summoner.

Flexing below some of my favorite cards from life splinter.

Hero of Beyond with 2 range damage is really helpful in bronze league where bunch of players are Mylor Crowling users. Plus his close range ability will enable him to attack in the first position if in case your first line monster got eliminated. And with his shield and health of 8, he surely can survive 3-4 attacks. If you combine him with Armorsmith with the ability of repairing friendly unit's armor will definitely get Hero of Beyond survive longer.
Silvershield Assassin on the other hand, I usually pair him with Silvershield Knight as my tank. With the inspire ability Silvershield Knight will give Silvershield Assassin additional 1 melee damage which will make him really deadly for the opponent's back attackers. With his double strike ability it can surely take down 1-2 enemy monster each round.

For low mana Battle (12 - 16 mana limit), Fire is my go to Splinter. Adding Chicken and/or Creeping Ooze in my line up will definitely make the difference. I usually put on a budget of around 500 - 700 Dec for 1 day if I am planning to grind for couple of hours. In this budget I will be able to rent level 2 Epic Dragon Summoner Daria Dragonscale. In level 2 lovely Daria can summon level 3 Cerberus and level 2 Manticore. These is my deadly combination with total of 100 DEC rent expense. I can guarantee you that this combination is a 90% effective in bronze low mana battle. One thing to look out for is if use in 18 and beyond mana limit, lookout for the Alric users which summons mage monsters. Having +1 magic damage, this will definitely put your Cerberus down in first round.

Having lovely epic level 2 summoner Daria, it can summon level 3 Darius. And with her +1 melee damage buff it will increase Cerberus melee damage to 4. While Manticore, in the second position will be able to attack the front enemy monster having his reach ability, together they can deal total of 7 melee damage which will definitely put enemy's front monster down in first round leaving enemy's back attackers unguarded. With their health of 6 each I can assure you no one can put them down in low mana battle.
