Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Today, I will share the recipe for Bhindi (ladyfinger or okra) Masala with you.

Bhindi Pyaz (or Bhindi do pyaza or Okra with onion) is a popular North Indian dish that is made with okra, onions and spices.

The dish has become popular all over the country and there are many variations of it. Known for its rich taste and bright color, it is often eaten with roti or rice in homes or restaurants.

Bhindi is called by many names – Okra in English and Vendakkai in Tamil.

Bhindi is not only delicious but also offers several impressive health benefits. It is rich in folic acid and vitamin B6, making it a nutritious addition to your diet. Additionally, this low-calorie vegetable is an excellent choice for those following the popular keto diet, as it contains only about 16 calories in half a cup of raw okra.

Ingredients for Bhindi Pyaz

500 g Bhindi / Okra

1 Onion finely sliced

1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder

as per taste Salt

3 tbsp Oil

Optional:

1 Tomato small, chopped

How to make Bhindi Pyaz

Wash the bhindi (okra) and pat dry.

Cut off the tops of the bhindi and discard them.

Chop the bhindi into pieces measuring 1/4 to 1/2 inch each.

Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.

Add the chopped bhindi and sliced onions. If desired, include the chopped tomatoes.

Saute the mixture for 3 to 4 minutes.

Sprinkle red chilli powder, salt, and turmeric powder over the bhindi and onions.

Cover the pan with a lid and allow the bhindis to cook until tender.

Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Once cooked, transfer the bhindi pyaz to a serving dish.

Serve hot as a delectable side dish with rice dishes or rotis.
