Never heard about the HIVE blockchain P2E (Play 2 Earn) TCG (Trading Card Game), which is going to add tower defense soon, but I digress.

Splinterlands Rewards 101

With NFTs /Crypto you can buy & sell them meaning they can have value unlike a traditional game asset. The value can very significantly depending upon the P2E game its connected to.

Splinterlands NFT assets particularly their cards have a utility based value meaning their not simply cosmetic, but impact the gameplay.

You may think this is Pay to Win, which is both a yes & no, deducting Spell Book costs $10 you can basically rent a deck from other players good enough to trash most players for a season roughly 2 weeks for $10.

With enough wins per season I can earn on average 30-55 rewards chests per season at diamond rank.

Diamond rank rewards chests have modified odds meaning the contents are better then say a Bronze, Silver, or Gold level rewards chest.

In a Single rewards Chest you can receive Cards, Packs, SPS one of their cryptocurrencies, Merits, & Potions.

All rewards in one way or another have value which increases as the tier of rewards chest increase.

Most seasons spending a little less then $10 on rentals I hit diamond & more then make my $10 back from rewards.

With Cards you can burn, blend, buy, sell, rent out, or just rent them on the in game Splinterlands market.

Ill do a more advanced Splinterlands market tutorial in an upcoming section of this write up.

By burning I mean destroy the NFT to receive its minimum DEC value, DEC being another Splinterlands crypto.

The Burn Value is also referred to as power what power your account has determines max Rank tier you can reach, this is determined by all your card power combined together.

Blending cards of the same type increases that cards BCX & in sufficient quantity its level / stats.

So in the example above 61 cards of this type where blended its resulting level went from 1 to 5.

When at the right rank with a proper level summoner used you can play cards at max Level which have the best stats, between Blending & Burning Cards tend to disappear over time.

Organically lowering the supply of the Card over time which can increase value.

Cards come in Gold & Normal variants Gold having a higher Burn value / base level requiring fewer to be combined to level up + rarer Gold Foil Cards hold a higher market value.

Cards as well as packs can be earned by playing ranked matches given when you buy a Spell Book they give you $3 Back in Credits to Spend you can rent $3 of cards & start earning Seasonal / daily rewards.

You earn rewards simply by winning ranked matches if you do so following that days challenge you earn rewards faster.

Each win also gains you SPS which increases depending upon a myriad of factors.

While yes you spend some money its in my opinion the best money I ever spend, Splinterlands rewards started my journey into NFT markets & I have cleared a little less then $40,000 in 2 years in profit.

Rift Watcher pack Unboxing

Just a taste of the Rift watchers packs I have opened thus far not all Rift Watchers packs I have opened but all the note worthy ones.

Keep in mind I swear by potions a Splinterlands game mechanic when opening packs.

Though you may not want to believe me these potions 5 of each should always be used when opening packs one of each type per card in a 5 count pack.

1000 Credits = $1 USD in Splinterlands the 5 Legendary Potions at most will cost you $0.192 USD almost $0.20.

5 Gold Potions will run you $0.24 at most given you can use instead of credits 240 DEC its average price being slightly lower is usually cheaper.

With Splinterlands Packs the contents get determined at the moment of execution IE when you open the pack, for this reason the potions can actually work. Based on what I know of the Splinterlands Build & the thousands of packs I have opened Potions work.

Potion PSA out of the way now we can Unbox a few Rift Watcher Packs 5 of each potion used on each.

A single Legendary card Raa I sold for $15.50 in less then 2 hours, the pack +potions cost me $4.80 total.

Note how basically the concept is lowest cost possible minimizing deficit with higher number of packs purchased & opened.

Not every pack will be a profit some may be a near total loss you have to be able to afford to go into the red a little.

Mabey even in the red a good amount...

Now Rift Watchers packs are special not only can you modify the pack odds with potions 5 of each like I covered above. Their base odds per pack are also stacked in your favor like DICE packs where.


You see spending roughly $4-$5 a piece I just made $21 from 2 cards out of that last pack of 5.

They sell relatively fast in a few minutes to a day at most.

Simply rinse & repeat buy another pack with profit then open that with 5 of each potion, that's my process which made me over $10,000 profit from just Dice packs.

Now this isn't intended as financial advice its simply the method I use when buying & selling Splinterlands assets at the moment.

At launch we Have 38 cards total not counting Gold variations of which there are = numbers.

13 Common Cards while not worthless they hold less immediate value I recommend you hodl all common cards, my guess is they will eventually become rare or even valuable with enough time.

12 rare cards again not worth that much but they do hold value which will likely first decrease, then increase with enough time.

Epic Cards 6 of these in the colection getting 1 of these usually pays for a pack.

7 Legendary cards ranging in value from $6-$25 each just 1 of these more then pays for a pack.

With Airdrops there will be 5-6 cards added to rift watchers packs over the sale duration. From what I can tell they all should be legendary cards meaning once all airdropped cards are added there will be 12 Legendary cards in the Rift Watchers colection.

This is why the odds are so good your more likely to get a legendary card with 12 legendary card = in number to 12 rare cards in the same colection its obvious.

With 3,000,000 total Rift Watchers packs will be minted meaning like I said with enough time we the market will burn through this Rift Watchers Pack supply.

Once the market runs out those common & rare cards will be likely worth more.

Besides Common Rift watchers cards like Bramble Pixie are actually fairly useful fully leveled up.

Never underestimate the little guy.

Even common cards can be very useful if not better then legendary cards when playing Ranked matches.

Before you know what hit you, your beat with a hand costing less then $5 while yours costs thousands.

This is why it is & isn't Pay to Win you can beat a titan with a peasant when you play it correctly.

Just talking NFT markets there are currently 2 Blockchains to Focus on with Splinterlands HIVE - WAX each having its own markets, limitations, & quirks.

Splinterlands while based on HIVE can be pared with a number of other blockchain Wallets including WAX.

They allow you to add many other wallets but primarily when buying or selling packs / NFTs you will want HIVE or WAX.

On HIVE you have your Packs tokenize to crypto this is why typically you find Packs either on the in game market or on a P2P HIVE trading Dex such as.

This is because for a number of reasons packs qualify as a token not an NFT on HIVE. Due to this when you want to buy individual cards on a separate P2P HIVE market you go to the following.

Since the game is on HIVE you cant for the time being open packs on WAX as far as I know. That being said the Splinterlands WAX NFT market is almost all encompassing with some exclusions like totems, almost all Splinterlands NFTs can be bought / sold on WAX.

When a savvy user observes both Blockchains NFT markets on HIVE / WAX, as well as the prices of DEC, SPS, WAX, & HIVE.

They can start to take advantage of these fluctuations & separate markets using understanding this complexity to profit.

Like any market the demand for an good or asset has to exist for it to retain perceived value. NFTs are always subjective meaning collectively we the market subjectively determine an NFTs value.

Where this gets complex is utility grounded in virtual reality IE an NFT with a use case in a Video game like Splinterlands Cards or other NFT game items.

Unlike a item IRL with utility value like a Car or even a shovel a Digital Item with a Utility value means you not only have to gage that game items Supply & demand, but the popularity of the game its attached to.

While not as high as it once was on WAX $23,700 in P2P trade on an NFT market on a secondary Blockchain isn't bad really.

Here is what tells me to stick with Splinterlands besides all the money the game has made me the game itself is truly well designed.

From the pack design to the games balance lore all of it is executed with a level of talent & professionalism rare in Blockchain Games.

The assets are on a myriad of blockchains HIVE - WAX for NFTs, but crypto on BSC, ETH, STEEM, TRX, & HIVE.

Much like a multi national company compared with a domestic one, a multi blockchain P2E game is much more stable as its not a singular market asset ect.

P2E Games

With P2E titles even when they are great your earnings are traditionally tied to either investment or hours played. I give away NFTs on every post trying to give others the start to a NFT colection.
